JJK 261 spoilers ahead â ïžâ ïž
Everything about Gojo is so fucked up đ
And y'know what's fucked up about Gojo's body being used like this?

It's meant to be seen as something awful. It's meant to be sacrilegious and just shows that even to the people who are supposedly close to him, Gojo was always just a weapon and a vessel of power... never truly Satoru. đ
Except Suguru... Suguru was the only person who looked at Satoru as Satoru.

The fact that Gojo himself approved it and suggested it makes it so awful.. it's like he's accepted all his life that that's all he's ever meant to be to people...

Always a tool... Never an individual...
(Damn... i hate what Gege's done to him, but at the same time, i kinda get what he's going for... i think)
The tragedy of being Satoru Gojo đ
Rest in peace, King... They never deserved someone as good and caring as you đ

Listen, I know Gojo ain't perfect. He's a flawed individual with gray morals, but he cared about his students and wanted the best for them. He's a good person.

Your mom had told you that the friends you make in your first year of college stay with you for life, but you didnât expect that when you met Vernon. He had been shy, refusing to speak to anyone in your orientation group, but knowing glances turned into sitting next to each other, which then had you both whispering jokes back and forth, until finally, he told you his name. Hansol Chwe to be exact, but he insisted on âjust Vernon.â By the second semester of freshman year, you both had become inseparable. He was your best friend, been with you through some of the toughest moments of your adult life, and you wouldnât trade him for the world.
Vernonâs friendship survived through many of your boyfriends, and you knew heâd outlast many more. He experienced some of the worst ones â a.k.a. the men who refused to believe you two were just friends â and also the boring ones â the one guy who used you to get to him. But none of them had pissed him off more than your most current breakup: the man who was three years your senior and cheated on you with a 22-year-old. You assumed by age 27, youâd know how to pick âem, but that was clearly wrong.
Now you were left to your own devices with five weddings to attend this year. In retrospect, maybe there was a few you couldâve skipped, but you hated saying no in situations like this. You had agreed to go to all of them with your now ex-boyfriend in mind, placing a 2 on the inviteâs attending line. Per usual, Vernon had stepped up and begrudgingly offered himself to be your date.
So why were you now meeting up with Kim Mingyu to discuss the dates of said five weddings?
You first met Mingyu when Vernon joined a fraternity in sophomore year to make more friends. âI canât just have you. I need to have at least some friends that are dudes,â he said, which made you reply, âThatâs the toxic masculinity talking.â And boy, had Mingyu been the epitome of that statement. Him and Vernon had connected instantly, sharing the same major and an affinity for art girls. You had never really gotten along with him like Vernon had hoped, but he was ⊠attractive, to say the least.
Okay, maybe you had a crush on him. You had eyes.
But it was college and you both were on the cusp of 20. It was so hard to confess feelings back then, especially to someone like Kim Mingyu. Who you didnât particularly enjoy talking to in the first place. However ⊠he was probably one of the hottest men youâd ever seen; made in a lab for every young girlâs fantasy. Sometimes you couldnât help but just stare at him, admiring his perfect teeth or the way his honey-gold skin shined in the afternoon sunlight. (You thanked your lucky stars that Vernon joined the college football team alongside Mingyu, just so you could secretly ogle him during practice.)
Suffice to say, you did eventually hook up. In the most cliche way possible, you had both gotten a little too tipsy at the first frat party of senior year and wound up in Mingyuâs dorm, locking out his roommate for the entire night. It almost felt weird, realizing your attraction had been reciprocated, but he hardly said a word to you come morning. In fact, he never mentioned it again, period, choosing to avoid you except in group settings with Vernon. You werenât a fool; you were quick to realize it meant nothing to him, just another notch on his bedpost.
Mingyu was every girlâs dream, but Mingyu was also uncommitted.
And he was walking towards you right now.
You looked up from your phone after stalking â looking through Mingyuâs Instagram. You never followed him, never checked in on him after graduation, but you knew how close he still was with Vernon. He even posted a picture with him recently. You rolled your eyes. Despite his long hair, you recognized Mingyu instantly as he went up to the barista and ordered a coffee. You studied him for a moment, noticing that there was a curl to his hair and the way those dark stands hung around his eyes. His skin was as perfect as ever and â goddamn, did he get bigger? He was wearing a jacket over his t-shirt and you could still tell how big his muscles were.
When he finally looked over his shoulder and your eyes connected, his face remained unchanged, if not a little awkward. He walked up to you, rubbing at the back of his neck, and said your name as if it were a question. âYeah. Hi, Mingyu,â you replied with a wave. âItâs been a while.â
âFive years since graduation,â he added, pulling out the chair across from you and plopping down. âSo you stopped putting those blonde highlights in your hair?â
Your eye twitched. Before you could spit out a response, a cute, dark-haired barista came over and set a fresh mug of coffee in front of him, completely ignoring that your own was practically empty. Mingyu flashed her a smile, showing off his pretty canines as she walked away. You frowned.
Vernon had told you last night that Mingyu wasnât the same guy you knew in college, but you begged to differ.
Turning back to you, he took a sip from his mug and asked, âWhy did you want to meet up again?â
âBecause my best friend is an asshole and you lost a bet.â
âOh, yeah. That.â He nodded.
You almost didnât believe Vernon when he told you. You knew he didnât exactly want to be your date to all these weddings and probably felt like he had to, but he did offer so you didnât think much of it. Until he told you last week that he put all his guest invites on the line while playing a drinking game with Mingyu, which the latter lost. So now Kim Mingyu, your college one-night-stand that was scared of commitment, was committing to being your date to several weddings this year.
Kill me now, you thought.
âI thought drinking games and making silly bets like this didnât happen once your frontal lobe formed,â you said, and his dark eyes flickered up to yours.
âThatâs where youâre wrong,â he cleared his throat and set the mug down again. âMen never really grow up.â
You crossed your arms over your chest and sat back in your chair. âApparently,â you muttered under your breath. âHow do you have the time to actually commit to this? Donât you have a girlfriend or something?â
âOne,â he held up a single finger, âI take bets very seriously and Iâm not a sore loser. Itâs only removing five weekends out of the year for me. No biggie. And two,â he lifted another finger, âNo.â
You raised a brow. âWell, I guess that answers all my questions.â
Mingyu stared at you for a moment, running those two fingers over his bottom lip. You suddenly had a flashback to that night, remembering his hands all over you, remembering his fingers plunging inside and curling â
Not the time.
âDonât you have a boyfriend? Why put down two people on these RSVPs you sent back and then force just anybody to be your date?â He fought the urge to smile, trying to dig a little deeper into you. You werenât falling for it this time. âI love the guy, but I know Vernon wasnât your first choice to accompany you.â
âMy ex and I broke up,â you replied. âNot much to it.â
Intrigued, he sipped his coffee again. âWhy?â
âItâs none of your business, Mingyu.â
âWell, as your new date ââ
âDrop it,â you said, voice taking on a new tone. âIâm serious.â
Mingyu raised his hand in surrender, and you shook off your anger. This was supposed to be a friendly, quick conversation, but it was seemingly moving off the rails. A sigh escaped your mouth before you asked, âSo you said this is only taking five weekends out of the year. What do you do with your time? Are you working?â
âI thought I answered all your questions.â
You narrowed your eyes.
He chuckled softly, exposing those canines once again. His smile was so ⊠ugh, you needed to stop getting distracted. âI work at a restaurant four days a week as a cook, and then teach flag football at a rec facility the rest of the time. Iâve been trying to save up to open my own restaurant for years, but I got the time to be a makeshift wedding date.â
You knew Mingyu had always loved to cook â you remembered when heâd been the resident chef at the fraternity â but to hear he was still passionate almost ⊠melted you a little. Almost. You were dedicated to not being too swayed by Mingyuâs pretty words. This was a deal and that was the end of it.
âI see,â you nodded, uncrossing your arms to play with the handle of your still empty mug. âIâve been working at the same marketing agency since college. Pays the bills, you know?â
Mingyu gave you a knowing look before running a hand through the long strands. âAlways so committed.â
Your lips pursed. âOne of us has to be.â
âSpeaking of commitment,â he said without missing a beat, pulling his phone from the pocket of his jeans. âWhat are the dates for those weddings again?â
Save the Date for the wedding of Choi Seungcheol and Holland Levine: February 28th
It was a rainy Sunday in February. Your coworker, Choi Seungcheol, was getting married today at a local venue on the outskirts. His girlfriend, Holland â otherwise known as, Hinge Holland, when he met her on the dating app 3 years ago â was a little kooky and asked for them to be eloped that morning. Seungcheol was too in love to say no; heâd do anything she asked. They were married early morning, and lucky for you and Mingyu, all you had to attend was a reception. It was a nice way to test the waters of this deal before anything got too crazy.Â
Mingyu had picked you up in his truck, and together struggled to help lift you inside with your dress and heels on. As he drove away from the city and into a more rural area, he commented, âYour coworker must be real whipped to agree to a reception here.â
âWhat are you talking about?â You looked through your phone for the address Seungcheol had sent you months ago. âI thought the reception was at some small venue.â
Mingyu said your name, and you glanced over, seeing the smile on his face. âItâs a VFW owned by someone in his girlfriendâs family.â
You realized just how right he was when he pulled up to a spot in a VFW parking lot, seeing a crowd of Hollandâs family pour into the post. You knew what the inside of a VFW looked like; you had your sweet 16 at one. But going to a wedding reception at one was a whole different story. Were the walls so old that theyâd crumble once the DJ dared to play Dancing Queen?
Rain pounded from the sky, making the cold February wind even more chilly. Mingyu rounded the truck and opened your door, making sure to hold an umbrella above your head as you slid out of the seat. He looked ⊠okay, he looked extremely handsome in his suit, tailored exactly to his body. You were in an old, off-the-shoulder black dress with mesh sleeves that were doing nothing in this wet cold. This wedding had crept up on you, and before you knew it, you remembered you didnât have any new dresses to wear. And while it looked nice, the dress just barely zipped and you had to keep pulling up the neckline. Clearly, you had grown a bit since the last time you worn this. Probably in college.
Mingyu was staring at you now, letting his eyes wander down, and you were yanking at the neckline again. He didnât deserve to see more of your cleavage. He whispered, âYou look âŠâ
âJust come on,â you cut him off, tugging him in the direction of the VFW. He struggled to keep up for a moment, rushing to hold the umbrella above both of you.Â
As soon as you both walked inside, you realized just how dressed up you were compared to the place. The building looked like it hadnât been updated since the 1990s. There was, at least, a huge buffet-style food setup in the corner and a man so old that he probably had one foot in the grave behind the bar. A sign in front of him said, OPEN BAR, written in thick sharpie. Various family members were congregating at tables, while the DJ â who looked like a Pitbull impersonator â was setting up at the head of the room.Â
Seungcheol ran over the second he saw you meandering through tables. He had the biggest smile on his face, tugging his new wife over to introduce her to you before wiggling his eyebrows at you when he noticed Mingyu on your arm. Even Holland couldnât help but ogle him. Seungcheol was one of your closest coworkers, so it wasnât weird when he asked, âWhoâs the beefcake?â
Mingyu was too busy dealing with Hollandâs questions to hear you reply, âDonât ask. Iâve cycled through many options before I was forced to bring him.â
âIâm sure it was quite difficult for you,â he snorted, before carefully pulling his wifeâs hand off of Mingyuâs and introducing himself. Not long after, he was ushering her away to start making speeches.Â
You and Mingyu found your seat quickly, and luckily enough, you were sat with most of your coworkers. Every single one was looking at Mingyu like he was a piece of meat, but he didnât seem to notice as he had a friendly conversation with each of them. You struggled to not roll your eyes. How was he perfect with everyone? Maybe your dislike of him was irrational and unwarranted, maybe he did change. But ⊠ugh, could he fuck up for once?
Your coworker, Minghao, sat to your left, watching Mingyu converse with the young assistant â Amelia, right? â who was very clearly batting her eyes at him. Leaning towards you, Minghao whispered, âI thought you were bringing Vernon?â
Minghao was one of the few people you told about your breakup, as well as Vernon and of course, your girlfriends. It wasnât like you to go around everywhere and post on social media about your breakup; it wasnât anyoneâs business. But Minghao gave great advice, and he was one of the first people that helped you get over the heartbreak. He wasnât just a coworker. He became a trusted friend.
Turning your head, you said, âWould you believe me if I told you that he lost a bet?â
âConsidering who you ended up with,â he chuckled, âIâd say itâs a win in your favor.â
âHeâs not that great.â
âThen you might want to pull Amelia off of him before she starts sucking his face.â
The reception ended at an early hour thankfully. Most of the elderly guests were falling asleep anyway. Mingyu was a class act, per usual, trying to get you up and out of your seat to dance with him, but the last thing you wanted to do was dance to Toxic by Britney Spears in front of your boss at the marketing agency. Instead, he took the lead to asking Seungcheolâs mom to dance, and made Ameliaâs day when he asked her to join. Minghao only continued to laugh when you rejected each of Mingyuâs advances.
Once 10 PM rolled around and you both were exiting the doors of the aging VFW, you noticed the rain hadnât let up. In fact, it seemed to have gotten even worst. You had to run to Mingyuâs truck with him holding the umbrella above both of you and almost trip over your dress as you hopped up inside the cab. Assuming it would be fine to drive, just a few minutes in the rain left you both realizing that it might be extremely unsafe to drive back to the city in this weather. You really couldnât argue with Mingyu when he suggested you stay the night at a motel right down the road.Â
The woman behind the front desk at the motel was chewing so loud that you thought the wad of bubblegum between her teeth might be larger than your palm. She informed you both that the only rooms available were ones with a single queen-sized bed. As much as you desperately wanted two, youâd take what you could get. She started grabbing both of your informations to check in when a loud bolt of lightning cracked, followed by a crash of thunder. You instantly gripped Mingyuâs arm, and he paused signing his name to look down at you.
âAre you scared of thunder?â He asked playfully.
Realizing how tight you were holding on, you quickly removed your hand. âNo, Iâm ⊠itâs fine.â
His bicep felt so much harder than anticipated. All muscle.Â
Stop that.
The front desk attendant gave you an actual metal key to open your room, the number dangling from a kitschy pendant. This was the kind of motel where you needed to venture outside to get to your room, and with your arms locked together, Mingyu led you both through the pouring rain to the right building. He shoved the key in the lock, immediately opening the door and allowing you to walk inside first.
The room was smaller than expected. The heat was hardly circulating and you were still shivering. A queen-sized bed was situated in front of an old RCA TV, decorated with a comforter that looked strangely similar to the one from the 80s that your mom had given you when you first moved out. The room smelled like bleach and all you could hear was the rain on the roof. Noticing you shiver, Mingyu walked over to the thermostat and adjusted the heat.
âMaybe this was a bad idea,â you said, hugging your arms around yourself.
Mingyu pointed to the large window by the door. âI canât drive in that. It takes an hour to get back to the city and I can hardly see the road.â
âOkay, well ââ
Lightning struck again, painting the window white, and you jumped. Mingyu shook his head and walked over, closing the shades over the glass. He looked down at you, and you were acutely aware that he was the kind of person who could say everything just with his eyes. âBetter?â He asked, a smile playing at his pink lips.
He was so close that you could smell his cologne and â god dammit, you were such a sucker for men that smelled good. He smelled like violets mixed with smokey sandalwood, spicy and musky. Whatever you were going to quip back died on your tongue, leaving you to reply, âI canât sleep in my dress. I have nothing to wear to bed.â
Walking over to the tiny closet, Mingyu spotted a robe hanging up next to the vintage ironing board. He placed it in your arms and remarked, âTake a shower and put this on.â
âAre you saying I smell?â
He laughed. âNo, youâre shivering and itâll help warm you up.â
You nodded, heading off to the bathroom and shutting the door. As you slipped off your dress and let it pool onto the tile, you realized how antagonizing you were being for no reason. Mingyu had been nothing but nice to you, but you were suspecting him to switch-up at any moment. Maybe Vernon was right, or maybe you just needed to take a chill pill.
Mingyu was helping you out, after all.
After taking the warmest shower of your life and probably using all of the hot water in the motel, you walked out into the room with your robe tied firmly around your waist. The cotton smelled like mothballs and you hardly left an inch of skin showing. Granted you werenât naked underneath, but you wouldnât give him the satisfaction of seeing your underwear. Again. After five years.Â
He was wearing only a tank top and boxers while setting up a makeshift bed on the floor. You struggled to maintain focus with him looking ⊠well, like that, and eventually spoke up, âWhat are you doing?â
He hardly jumped at hearing your voice. âI figured it would just be easier if I slept on the floor. Trust me, Iâve slept in far worse places.â
âMingyu, you donât have to do that,â you sighed, pulling back the covers and tossing the mismatching throw pillows on the floor.Â
âItâs not a big deal.â
âI know, but itâs just ââ
Thunder clashed outside, sounding like pots and pans clanging together, rattling your bones.
Your eyes connected with Mingyuâs, and you pointed to the empty side of the bed. âSleep in this bed right now.â
âYes, maâam.â
You both agreed â more like, you told Mingyu and he listened â to place a wall of pillows between you two, leaving you on the edges of the bed. You curled up into yourself, your spine facing him, as Mingyu laid on his back and pinched the bridge of his nose. The rain was so loud. The thunder was deafening. You considered plugging your fingers in your ears as you slept.
Mingyu was shifting on the small sliver of mattress he had, wishing internally that he brought a joint or two with him. This bed was so uncomfortable that he probably wouldnât sleep. But hopefully, you would. Although that was seeming highly unlikely from the way your back tensed with every boom of thunder.
He watched you from the corner of his eye, and eventually, you did stop shaking. Soft snores filled the room, replacing the sound of the rain. And then Mingyu felt himself relax, swiftly falling asleep with his arm thrown above his head.
Despite the pillow wall you built, you woke up with your head on his chest.
Mingyu had wanted to tell you how beautiful you looked that day, but he couldnât find the courage to finish his sentence.
Save the Date for the wedding of Lee Chan and Adrianna Olson: April 4th
Tapping your freshly manicured nails on your bare arm, you leaned against the passenger side door of your car and huffed. You uncrossed your arms, beginning to pace outside Mingyuâs apartment building. The ceremony today started in two hours and you were about ninety minutes from the venue. Not to mention, there was only a matter of time before one of his neighbors showed up, forcibly removing you from the parking spot in front of the building you definitely did not live in. What the hell was Mingyu doing anyway? He said heâd be down ten minutes ago.Â
You tugged off your heels, realizing theyâd be a bitch to drive in, and pulled your sneakers from the back seat. Your floral, strapless sundress blew in the Spring breeze. Your curls â that looked like they couldâve been done by a toddler â whisked off your bare shoulders as you stepped into your favorite Nikes.Â
âSorry.â
Popping your head up, you halted while shoving the back door closed. You blinked, assuming your eyes were deceiving you, but there he was, sprinting down the front steps of his building with freshly chopped hair.
Mingyu was quickly walking over to shove his duffle in your backseat, pulling at his tie, when you leaned in and placed your hand on his head. Yep, that was his real hair. Those long locks that had reached his chin were gone, replaced by a hairstyle that was similar to how he looked in college.Â
âI know weâre running late,â he apologized, letting your fingers sink into the strands for a moment, âbut do you have to ââ
âThis is not about that.â You removed your hand, leveling a look at him. âYou cut your hair.â
Mingyu raised a brow. âIt was getting long.â
You paused, blinking at him. âWhy didnât you warn me of your new look?â
âI didnât think I had to?â He shrugged, genuinely confused as to why you were questioning him. âMy hair had gotten even longer since February, so I just thought Iâd freshen up for you ââ
You completely missed his words â for you, heâd freshened up for you â because you were already interrupting him. âWell, itâs just â it might look weird in pictures because my hair is up and your hair is so short. And Iâm already going to have so many people looking at us wondering why my ex, whoâs name I put on the invite, isnât here. And I just want to eliminate as much attention as possible. And, well â and ââ
Mingyu placed both hands on your shoulders. His palms were large, practically burning into your exposed skin. âAre you overthinking?â
âNo, I âŠâ
When your voice trailed off, Mingyu hesitated for a moment longer and then slid his hands off. âVernon told me that you dated the groom. Chan, right?â
Of-fucking-course, Vernon told him. Your lips pursed before you replied, âWe were friends before that, and we only dated for like a couple months in college. I introduced him to the woman heâs marrying.â
âThen why are you so nervous?â
âI think I have a lot of reasons to be nervous these days.â You continued to stare at him, waiting for him to come up with another quippy remark, but it seemed he contested and shoved his hands into the pockets of his suit. The same tailored suit he wore to the wedding in February, a few loose threads at the seams. âLetâs get going. Weâll be in the car for a while,â you said, rounding your car and hopping inside the driverâs seat.
As Mingyu dealt with finding room for his duffle in your trunk, you took this small second to text Vernon.
You: your friend is infuriating
You: also Iâm never going to forgive you for telling him that I dated chan
Vernon: youâll get over it lol
Vernon: is that the only reason why heâs infuriating?
You: HAIRCUT
Vernon: oh I probably shouldâve told you about that when I saw him last week
Vernon: sorry :/
You closed your texts when Mingyu hopped in the passenger seat, turning on your music to drown out your thoughts. The drive was long and you were lucky that you got to the venue with ten minutes to spare. You parked the car in a haste, running to your back seat and quickly tugging your heels back on. You chucked your sneakers onto the car floor, almost hitting Mingyu in the face when he went to grab his phone from the same area. Locking your car, you grabbed his arm and yanked, both of you running towards the venue attached to a pretty hotel. Mingyu, even with his long legs, was struggling to keep up. He was also slightly impressed that you could run so fast in heels, and that was definitely the only reason why he was staring at your legs. He wasnât admiring how long they looked when the wind lifted your skirt and he got a flash of your calf.
Even from your seat in the back of the ceremony, you could see Chanâs face light up as Adrianna was escorted down the aisle. She was wearing a vintage wedding dress, the veil sheer enough to see how beautiful she was underneath, and Chan was eager enough to lift it as soon as they said, âI do.â Adrianna looked like she hadnât aged a day since school, and you could probably say the same for Chan. But he did manage to finally remove the earrings he got six years ago, which made you giggle to yourself.
Mingyu pretended not to notice.
Most of the people at the wedding were old friends from undergrad, even a few Mingyu knew in passing. Every time you were approached, you prepared yourself for the same question: âWhere is He Who Will Not Be Named?â Or, for those that actually knew Mingyu: âSince when did you know Gyu?â You werenât sure how much longer you could fake a smile and laugh, pretend that your heart still wasnât sore from the breakup, rehash the same words over and over again. It was tiring; you were tired.Â
Same explanation. Same heartbreak. You wouldnât be surprised if the whole planet knew of your breakup by now. You didnât announce it anywhere, besides telling your family and close friends. It was natural for people to be curious; you had been with your ex for a couple years, enough for your family to assume that heâd propose. But then he cheated, and you found out, and you were left in pieces, tied to Kim Mingyu as your date for a full year of weddings.
You just didnât want to keep on doing this, explaining yourself ten times over, realizing that everyone was looking at you with interest. Maybe a second glass of champagne would be a good distraction âŠ
âWanna dance?â
You looked up from the rim of your empty glass. Mingyu had knocked you out of your daze, laying out a hand for you to take. The reception was lively with family and friends mingling on the dance floor, but Mingyu had still noticed you alone at the table, lost in your thoughts. Had he always been this attentive, or was he just prone to watching you?
Ignoring your internal monologue, you took his hand, allowing him to lead you to the dance floor. Just as Mingyu was about to place his hand on your waist, the song changed, switching to a more upbeat track you used to blast in college. You immediately started laughing at all the older folks trying to follow the beat, and then found Chan with his wife, shimmying on the dance floor. Mingyu pinched the bridge of his nose, but found himself beaming when he finally saw the smile grace your features. He didnât let go of your hand, let you twirl him to the song that took you back to the musty basement of a frat party.
Chan, at some point, had managed to dance over in your direction, bumping into you with a big grin. âI knew all the alumni here would love this,â he shouted over the music. âDo you remember when you puked outside a window once at some party and you said that it was this song that induced it?â
You were surprised when Mingyu said, âYes,â at the same time as you. Both you and Chan glanced at him, eyebrows raised, until he added, âThat was at one of my parties. I cleaned your vomit off the windowsill!â
The four of you erupted in laughter. Even Adrianna remembered that party, considering that was the night you drunkenly introduced her to Chan. She eventually pulled you away from Mingyu, leading you towards her group of bridesmaids so you all could dance together. But your eyes couldnât help but find Mingyuâs across the floor, and then he was looking at you, and â god dammit, staring at him felt like a crime youâd consider going to jail for.
Everyone was looking at him, but he was looking at you.Â
Actually, Mingyu couldnât seem to take his eyes off you. Not once.
He stared at you as if it was just you two, as if you were stripped bare before him, just for his eyes to see. You could tell from the way he bit his lip while smiling. He looked at you as if you were naked.
Soon enough, you were slipping through the crowd and by his side once again. He was now leaning against the wall by the open bar, nursing a scotch. The party was winding down; all the older family members had left, leaving Chan and Adrianna â plus a few other young couples â swaying to a classic Ed Sheeran song. It wouldnât be long until they ended the night with Canât Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley. The time war nearing 11 PM.Â
Slinking beside him, he offered the glass to you and you took a sip, wincing at the burn. You stuck out your tongue. âHow can you drink that so smoothly?â
âYears of practice,â he replied, and then flicked your nose in a way that shouldnât make you blush. But you definitely did.Â
You blinked up at him, admiring how pretty he was in the faint, yellow light. Actually, he was pretty in every light, but you liked to find any excuse to admire him. Even if you denied it.
âWanna get out of here?â You asked then, digging your nails into your palms. So afraid of rejection after all these years, even though he agreed to be here. âI think the reception is going to end soon anyway.â
âYeah, sounds good.â He set his half empty glass on a random table and straightened his back before adding, âWhatever youâre comfortable with.â
God, you needed to get it together. Those words were the bare minimum, but when he said them in that slightly muffled voice, it made your nails pinch the inside of your hands harder.
You both stood on opposite sides of the elevator, dragging up, up, up to your room on the seventeenth floor. Your eyes connected. A smile played at his lips. An unspoken tension brewing between the two of you. A feeling you didnât want to be there in the first place, but something you couldnât simply ignore.Â
This couldnât be happening. Not today. Not tonight. Not ever again.
He opened the door for you, allowing you to slip inside and grab your bag. While he rifled through his duffle, you brought your bag into the bathroom and leaned against the sink. You allowed yourself a moment to just breathe. Maybe if you kept exhaling like this, you would release all the tension from your body. You knew how silly it sounded, but desperate times called for desperate measures. You stared at your reflection in the mirror, turning your face from side to side. Was it the makeup that made him look at you that way sometimes? Perhaps he still had a fondness for lipgloss, like he did back in the day.
When you finally stopped studying your appearance, you wiped off your makeup and tugged on a pair of loose pajamas. Wearing these would be so much more comfortable â and less awkward â than the robe you wore after the last wedding. You still had nightmares about that. Carefully tiptoeing out of the bathroom, you expected to find Mingyu already in one of the two full size beds, scrolling through his phone and ignoring the noise you naturally made. But he was on the deck just outside your room, smoke billowing from his mouth.Â
You stood near the unoccupied bed, balancing on the balls of your feet, as you debated your options. A smart person would go right to sleep, leave him to his business. You chewed on your bottom lip nervously.
Despite the slight warmth to the air, you threw on a hoodie, scared of the possibility of your nipples showing through the thin fabric of your t-shirt. You slid open the door and immediately closed it, preventing any smoke from getting into the room. He didnât turn; he knew exactly who was behind him. His back muscles flexed underneath his suit jacket, the joint dangling between his lips as he prayed for his lighter to work again.
âYou probably shouldnât be smoking in this suit,â you said, saddling up beside him.
He chuckled, finally taking a long drag. âI promise to get it dry cleaned before our next adventure.â
Before our next adventure. You bit the inside of your cheek.
Your eyes didnât leave the joint now sitting between two of his fingers. (Jeez, were they always that big?) He let more smoke filter from his lips and into the open air, clouding up the starry night sky. Without even looking at you, he asked, âWhy are you staring?â His words hung in the silence for a moment. âHave you ever smoked before?â
You shrugged. âOnly once or twice with Vernon. Probably as freshmen.â
âYou want me to show you how?â
Blinking at him, all you could do was dumbly nod. Mingyu laughed under his breath, fighting with his lighter again, before eventually holding the flame to the end. He then cautiously passed the joint over to you, allowing the filter to brush your lips. âTake it in your mouth,â he instructed, ânow inhale.â
When you did as he asked, you mustâve inhaled far too deeply, or just didnât exhale at the right time. Because then you were coughing, doubling over as you tried to catch your breath. âHey, hey, hey,â he said, concern etched in his tone, and patted your back as you hacked up what felt like your left lung. His voice was soft, soothing, but you could hardly hear it through the ringing in your ears.
âYeah,â you sighed, voice hoarse, âIâm definitely out of practice.â
As you stood up, his hand stayed on your shoulder, his thumb rubbing patterns. Your breath stilled as you looked up at him. Playing with the joint between his lips, he said, âLet me show you an easier way.â
âOkay,â you agreed, before your conscious could stop you.
You watched as he took a long pull from the joint, sucking it all in until you could see his eyes get a little pinker, and then moved closer to you. Instinctively, your eyes closed and your lips parted, welcoming the scent of him. His lips only lightly grazed yours as he exhaled the smoke into your mouth, letting it engulf your very being, and you felt yourself start to relax. He craned back, grinning down at you, and it took everything within you to not ask for another hit right then.Â
In the moonlight, you could see why you fell hard for Mingyu. He had only gotten more handsome since college. Light, in any form, was so kind to him, but with the stars hanging above his head ⊠it allowed his dark hair to shine, casting a slightly blueish tone to his warm features. You could see the twinkling stars reflecting in his eyes, especially when he leaned back in, expelling more smoke into your mouth.
This felt too intimate. This felt like fucking.
Once you both were so high you could do nothing but laugh, Mingyu stubbed out the joint and you stumbled back into the room. You both were finally going to have a good sleep at one of these, especially since there were two beds. Rolling into your bed, you immediately burrowed under the covers as Mingyu took off his suit in the bathroom.
The last thing you expected was to feel him plop down in your bed. He was wearing so little that it made your thighs press together, or maybe that was just the weed talking. He was disoriented, laying halfway off the edge of your bed, staring at you as if you were the Mona Lisa. You huffed, âMingyuuu. You need to get in your own bed.â
âDo you really want that though?â
His words made your eyes immediately snap open. A grin was tugging at his mouth again, his teeth sinking into that plush bottom lip. Oh, so also wanted ⊠Oh.
You tried to sound cool and nonchalant, âConsidering this is a full size bed, yeah.â
Even in the darkness, even with his back to the moonlight streaming through the glass door â his presence was making you nervous. His eyes werenât leaving yours. You felt your hand inch over, your pinky curling around his.
âIf I can be so honest with you,â he whispered, licking at the corners of his lips, âyou are so beautiful that I want to kill any guy that has done you wrong.â
You exhaled, âMingyu âŠâ
He leaned in, smiling like he knew he caught you in his trap. âYes?â
You were pretty sure that you knew Kim Mingyu by now. You knew that this would be just another night that meant nothing to him. No matter how much he âchangedâ in Vernonâs eyes, it was very clear to you that he remained uncommitted. But fuck it, your heart was still burning from the breakup, stinging from the memory of people uttering your exâs name tonight. It was only going to be a kiss. Just something to soothe the pain.
He was so much closer now, invading your space, his hand completely eclipsing yours. He smelled like marijuana and lingering cologne. âTell me to stop,â he murmured, but you didnât. You let him kiss you, and god, it would be so much easier to dislike Mingyu if he didnât kiss so well.Â
It wasnât long before his tongue was pushing into your mouth, his large body looming over yours as he pressed you into the mattress a little more. And youâre desperate for it; you couldnât stop. This was supposed to be simple â just a kiss â but you could feel yourself falling under his spell, feel how his palms burned against your skin as they dragged down your torso. He explored your mouth like it was the first time, parting your legs to make room for himself on top of you. When his lips left yours, you almost let out a whine, but he helped take off your hoodie before reattaching his mouth to your neck. Those large hands snake under your shirt â up, up, and up â until he was cupping your breasts and you can feel how hard he is against your thigh.
Mingyu looked up at you as he kissed down your torso, his spit soaking through the thin fabric of the t-shirt you were still wearing. He lifted one of your legs, adjusting it so your thigh could rest comfortably on his shoulder and â shit, you knew where this was going. Reaching the waistband of your panties, he begged, âLet me go down on you.â
You mulled over his words. âAre you sure thatâs a good idea?â
âNo,â he grinned against your skin, meeting your eyes from between your legs. âBut thatâs a tomorrow problem. Please?â His head tilted. âDo I have to beg? Iâm willing.â
You bit your tongue, egging him on a little as he nipped at the inside of your thigh. He bucked his hips once, them twice, trying to get the smallest bit of friction on his cock that was currently throbbing in his boxers. He grunted softly against your skin.Â
âAnd if I say, âNo?ââ You asked with a raised brow.
He lifted his head and pouted his lips. After all these years, he still managed the perfect puppy dog eyes that could make just about anyone weak. âDonât be mean,â he pleaded, and you couldnât help but giggle.
âYou like when Iâm mean,â you quipped, giving him permission by helping him shimmy your panties off. He adjusted your legs again, presenting you like a meal.
âI do,â he chuckled, his breath ghosting over your pretty, pink folds. âEspecially, when you act like you didnât want me here in the first place.â
Before you can rebuttal, heâs pressing his face between your thighs, dragging his tongue up your slit to collect the wetness that gathered there. Just the small amount of attention had you keening, your hips jumping for more of him, and Mingyu was happy enough to oblige. His tongue flicked at your clit as he slid one single finger inside of you, testing your limits. Those puppy dog eyes lifted from between your thighs, wanting to see you crumble, knowing that it was him who made you like this. You sighed out his name, your hand coming down to tangle in his hair. And god, if Mingyu didnât love that ⊠heâd be a dead man. He groaned when he felt you tug at the strands, beginning to swirl his tongue in a circle around your puffy clit.
You couldnât even prepare yourself when he shoved another finger inside, pumping them in and out at an unreasonably fast pace. But you were bucking into him, tears pricking at your eyes as you whimpered for him. It was too much but almost too little at the same time. You could practically feel him smile as he devoured you. The bed rattled against the wall when he ground his erection against the frame, so needy and aching. His plump lips suckled on your clit, your slick smearing over his face, but he didnât want to miss a drop of you. He needed more of you, so he started curling three fingers inside of you, teasing that sweet spot.
This wasnât your first rodeo with Mingyu. He knew what you could take.
âMingyu,â you whined, and he glanced up at you again with the most fucked-out eyes imaginable. And still, he didnât stop. âYouâre gonna ⊠Iâm gonna cum so fast.â
He moaned into you, then begged, âPlease. Need to taste you.â
He was so determined, so desperate to feel you shake and moan and cry until he was completely spent on the taste of you. And it wasnât long before he got his wish: as he shoved those three fingers into you, grazing your g-spot while lapping at you like you were his last meal on death row. You unraveled on his tongue, muffling your cries for the rest of the people sleeping on your floor. Biting into your hand, you had physically restrain your body from shaking as your orgasm rocked through you, but Mingyu held you down with a gentle hand on your stomach. He was staring at you again and you were staring at him and fuck, his half-closed eyes made him look like he was drunk on you. You could feel him smirking into your pussy as he collected every last drop of you, knowing that he did a good job. He sighed with relief when he could finally taste you again and again and again.
Once your body settled, you felt him start to tug at your shirt and kiss up your stomach. The thought of now having him inside you made your hands clench with excitement, but dear god, he just knocked the wind out of you and you werenât sure how you could last. You were spent, tired, probably could just fall asleep right now.
You werenât feeling his lips on your skin anymore, so you opened your eyes. The moonlight gave you just enough to see that, despite the raging boner he probably had, Mingyu was now snoring softly with his head resting on your hips. Brows raised, you almost couldnât believe that this was the moment he decided to fall asleep, but you couldnât deny that you had been on the verge of doing the same.Â
Untangling yourself from him, you quickly cleaned yourself up and wiped his face clean with a washcloth. You sighed, using all the brute strength you had to haul him up on what was supposed to be your bed, and wrapped the covers around him. You admired him for a moment, your hand coming up to smooth back his dark hair. Somehow, this felt even more intimate than you cumming in his mouth. So you quickly moved away and slipped under the sheets of the other bed, using his snores as white noise.
The next morning, neither of you spoke of what happened.
Mingyu had wanted to tell you that he had a crush on you the moment Vernon introduced you two all those years ago, even when you disliked him. And slowly but surely, he was starting to realize it never truly went away.
Save the Date for the wedding of Joshua Hong and Jordan Lo: June 20th
Two months passed and the spring air turned sweltering. It was on days like this when you rolled the windows down and wasted gas just to get an overpriced iced coffee that you reminisced. You were taken back to a time when you waited by the curb as Vernon appeared from football practice, and even though he was sweaty, you still always agreed to drive him back to his dorm on the other side of campus. You would watch him say goodbye to his teammates and â shit, the light would catch, and suddenly you were looking at Mingyu wipe the sweat off his face while laughing with the quarterback and â
Now you were thinking about Mingyu again.
You had been thinking about him since April.
All of this felt so silly, like stupid games young 20-somethings played. You knew it wasnât good for you in engage in â well, anything with Mingyu. He had always been perfectly uncommitted with women, and he was clearly obsessed with his work, posting his new recipes or pictures of him and his flag football team on his Instagram stories. You could handle this. You could be an adult and have a functional acquaintanceship with someone you found attractive.Â
So you kept your distance. On the off chance that Mingyu was free and asked if you wanted to get together (which was a shock in itself), you declined. Even if you wanted to. Even if you desperately wondered what would come of it. The next wedding wasnât until the end of June and you were already biting you lip at the thought of seeing him in a suit again.
The only person you could finally blabber to about this was Minghao, and in typical fashion, he laughed. Not that you expected anything less.
âYouâre overthinking the entire situation,â he said over drinks. âItâs completely normal for you to have a little fun, especially while healing from a breakup. Thatâs what being single is all about, my friend.â
He was right. Of course, he was right. But what if Mingyu rejected you yet again, like he did in college? You wanted to talk to Vernon about this. He always gave you the best advice with this stuff, but this was his friend. The last thing you wanted was to make his friendship with Mingyu weird.
You attempted to ignore him. You redownloaded some dating apps as a distraction. You deleted them just as fast.
On the morning of June 20th, your cousin, Jordan, was marrying her longtime boyfriend, Joshua Hong. You had only met Josh on a number of occasions, but considering that they had been together for almost twelve years, you trusted him enough to take care of her. You felt lucky to be chosen as a bridesmaid and youâd never make a fuss, but dear god, the dark blue of this dress clashed with just about everything. The color was so dark and the dress was clinging to just about all of you and Mingyuâs tie was the wrong shade of blue â
Damn, did he look handsome though.
Jordan had made you both get to the venue early for a rehearsal dinner, and then once the morning came, you were whisked off to hair and makeup. You had barely said a word to Mingyu, too scared to give him anything besides small talk, but you couldnât help but compliment the new suit he bought for the last few weddings. âFigured Iâd cave and invest in one that wasnât from Goodwill,â he explained, âfor you.â
For you. For you. For you.
Your heels were hurting your feet halfway through the wedding, and despite how hard you were trying to focus on Joshâs vows, you couldnât help but find Mingyuâs eyes in the crowd. He wasnât paying attention to anyone else, his stare burning into yours to let you know his intent. You swallowed hard. Would anyone notice if you hid your blush behind the bouquet in your hands? It felt like torture having him look at you like this, as if there wasnât an extravagant wedding happening around them, as if he wasnât Kim Mingyu.Â
It wasnât until the reception that you could finally get a word in with your cousin, some much needed alone time after what was surely going to be the craziest wedding you went to this year. You both parked yourself near the open bar, ignoring the guests on the dance floor that were screaming for another round of the Cha Cha Slide. Tucking a strand behind your ear, Jordan said, âI canât thank you enough for doing this for me. Jeez, I really didnât think when I was three and met you a couple weeks after you were born that weâd be here. But I wouldnât have it any other way.â
You grinned, âI wouldnât miss this for the world.â The bartender handed you a new glass of wine and you took a sip. âBesides, these days all I do is work or go to weddings. The life of being a permanent wedding guest, I supposed.â
âSpeaking of guests âŠâ Jordan turned her head slightly, ogling Mingyu from where he was standing up and trying to decline your great auntâs advances to dance. Your cousin giggled. âHe isnât the older guy I thought youâd bring.â
âCircumstances change.â You shrugged, and she gave you a look. âIâd rather not get into it.â
Jordanâs brow raised. âYou guys are having sex though, right?â
You almost choked while taking another sip of your wine. âAbsolutely not.â
âYou sure?â
âWell, I ââ You sighed, and then decided to suck down the rest of the glass in one go. Jordan whistled. âWe did at one point. Very long time ago. But heâs Vernonâs friend and ⊠itâs a long story.â
âSounds like it,â she snorted, eyes flickering around the reception until they landed somewhere behind you. âWell, if youâre not having sex with him, my friend just might tonight.â
Your expression muddled, until she pointed over your shoulder. Turning around, you found Jordanâs Maid of Honor chatting up Mingyu near the stairs that lead to the restrooms. Her hand was inching up his sleeve and he was blushing at what you could only assume was a compliment coming from her lips. He was clearly enjoying the conversation, despite the intimate looks he was giving you earlier.Â
Classic fucking Kim Mingyu, you thought.
A pang of jealousy surfaced that you couldnât control. It was probably best for everyone if you walked away and took a breather. After Joshua pulled his wife onto the dance floor, you adjusted the tight silk of your dress and headed for the bathrooms. You walked past them, your perfume wafting past Mingyuâs nostrils, a scent he would know anywhere.Â
Instead of going inside the bathroom, you decide to stand in the empty hall connected to the venue and brace your back against the cool wall. You sighed, gathering yourself, completely unaware it wasnât just you here until you heard the squeak of someone elseâs shoes.
âI noticed you were empty,â Mingyu muttered as a way of greeting. He was holding two glasses of rosĂ© between his fingers, stepping down the small staircase to get to you.
It was just you two now, and he was handing you the glass while standing so close that you could smell his cologne. Had this dress always felt that tight, or could you just not breathe right now? You watched the way his eyes flickered to your mouth, and it took everything in you not to yank him closer by the tie. Instead, you took a big gulp of rosé.
âYou didnât have to come after me,â you remarked, and then nodded your head in the direction of the Maid of Honor now on the dance floor. âYou looked like you were having fun.â
Mingyu simply tilted his head to the side, studying you carefully.
âSheâs pretty. Donât stop on my account, but please be aware that we are sharing a room so you canât bring anyone back there.â
Mingyuâs lips slowly curved into a grin. âAre you jealous?â
You scoffed, âNo. Iâm just ⊠being realistic.â
Taking your half empty glass from your hand, he set them both down on a side table right near the womenâs restroom. Your mouth opened, but the words died as soon as he placed a hand beside your head on the wall. He was so tall that he towered over you, even in heels, leaning into your space with pretty, half-opened eyes as he stared at your glossy lips.
âCan I be realistic with you?â He didnât give you a moment to answer. âI cannot stop thinking about our last night together. I know you probably thought it happened because of the weed, but I ⊠these past two months, itâs all Iâve been thinking about. And itâs killing me that Iâve been trying to be normal this whole night when all Iâve wanted to do is drag you away and make you cum again.â
Your breath hitched slightly at his words. He leaned in then, grazing his nose over the side of your face, desperate to be in your orbit. You took your bottom lip between your teeth and tried to control your heart rate, but how was that even possible when Mingyuâs other hand was brushing up and down your side, tangled in the silk.
âWell, that âŠâ You swallowed hard. âThat wouldnât be a good idea considering all my family is here.â
He tsked under his breath. âObviously, it wouldnât be, but âŠâ You felt his nose at your jaw, inhaling the scent of your perfume again, the one that made him crazy. And he damn near groaned in your ear.Â
âMingyu, you ⊠you ââ
âFuck, how could you think Iâm looking at anyone else here when you look this good in your dress?â His voice had taken on that needy tone he always got when he was horny. It almost felt like a reward to be able to hear it again. âIâve been half-hard this entire reception just from looking at you, remembering the way you tasted âŠâ He muttered another curse.
This was how he always acted. Mingyu could be so desperate and pleading when he wanted to get someone in bed, needy to the point he would do anything just to please you, but god â you couldnât deny how much you liked it. He was reeling you in. You were like fish to bait.
Slowly, he laced your dominant hand with his and moved it from his belt buckle to his groin. You could barely breathe when you felt him harden under your touch, and then you remembered you were still in a public hallway, where just about anyone could walk by.Â
Your eyes met his half-lidded ones as he murmured, âLook what youâre doing to me.â
And god help you, because you whimpered at the sound of his voice, slick starting to gather between your thighs.
âOkay, Mingyu, just âŠâ You sighed, composing yourself because you knew he wasnât going to any time soon. Your hand slipped away from his and he huffed, his forehead falling to rest on your shoulder. âGo to our room and let me make my rounds. Iâll meet you up there.â
He stood up. For a moment, he was almost tempted to drag you into the bathroom and bury his face between your legs, too hungry to let you get away now. But one of your uncles was walking down the hall, and you separated quickly. With a nod, you walked back to the reception and said goodbye to your family that you didnât get to talk to for too long prior. Jordan gave you a look when you mentioned about going to bed early, and even Josh told you how weird you were being, but your cousin shut him up and sent you a wink.
You exhaled heavily and headed back to hotel on the other side of the venue. Slipping your heels off once you were inside the elevator, you debated if giving into Mingyu this easily was the smart thing to do. Smart? Definitely not. But would it be enjoyable? You didnât need to answer that question. Mingyu knew what he was doing.
As you unlocked the door to your hotel room, you began to wonder if you were just setting yourself up to be hurt again. He didnât come back to you like this in college, but whatâs stopping him from telling you that heâs âjust not that into youâ at the next wedding? Or what if he just thought of you as an easy hookup that would get his dick wet every 2 months? Well, you hadnât done that yet â
Yet. Yet. Yet.
The word repeated in your head like a melody, because when you threw your purse down and saw Mingyu walking out of the bathroom, fresh from a shower and dressed in only a towel around his waist, you realized that you were most definitely getting his dick wet tonight. Whether it was in your mouth or somewhere deeper, you were salivating for it.Â
He was smiling at you and you were smiling at him and Jesus, he was so goddamn handsome that you couldnât believe that he was the one desperate for you. Droplets of water trickled down his tan skin and that towel around his waist was just barely holding on. His torso was chiseled and his arms â fuck, his biceps were bigger than you remembered. He was something out of a dream â some horny, fucked-up dream that you only had after masturbating before bed.
He was on you instantly, pushing you against the wall and kissing you hard. Sighing into the kiss, your hands fist into the towel to yank him closer, but it only makes the flimsy fabric fall. You break away for a moment to mutter, âOh, shit,â but his lips canât stay away from yours for long. And heâs laughing, like you did exactly what he wanted. You were too hypnotized by the scent of his body wash to care.
Dragging his lips down your neck, he sucked at the spot that he knew made your thighs press together, grinning proudly against your skin when you moaned. His fingers gripped the soft silk of your dress, slowly pulling the fabric up to feel you that much closer. But it wasnât enough. No matter how much he liked you in this dress â and god, did he like you in this dress â he needed you out of it. Now.
Mingyu unzipped your dress with precision, setting it down on one of the two beds in the room, and both of you were suddenly wishingthere was only one. His hands smoothed down your sides, his breath hot against your mouth. He just wanted to feel you everywhere. He almost didnât want to step away, afraid youâll slip through his fingers like sand. When you two had hooked up in college, it was quick and explosive, letting out the tension that had been building for years. There was so much territory for him to cover now, so many ways for him to find out what made you whine and sigh with pleasure. But, if he were being honest, all he wanted right now was for you to â
âSit on my face,â he begged, caging you into the wall, pressing his hard cock against your stomach. So desperate for just an ounce of friction, so hungry for another taste of you. He could literally start drooling at the thought of it. He was mesmerized by you; heâd do anything you asked just to have your pussy on his tongue again.
But you seemed to be debating your options, biting you lip again, and he wished that didnât turn him on even more. You were just so pretty, and the way your face scrunched as you decided on something was a sight he couldnât help but think about when he touched himself, even all those years ago. It was just you. You.Â
Eventually, your face relaxed, and you replied, âWell, you donât have to beg me.â
Mingyuâs lips pulled into a smile, and he laughed while pulling you down onto the nearest bed. Despite his request, you continued to straddle his torso and kiss him for just a little while longer. He was needy, moaning into your mouth whenever his cock bumped against your ass, but all you wanted to feel his lips on yours, tangle your tongue with his, even if it was just for another minute.Â
You forgot Mingyu was stronger than you, though. It wasnât much longer before he was yanking your body up and turning you around so you knelt just above his face. He inhaled the scent of your pussy and almost breathed a sigh of relief, but instead muttered, âSuch a tease sometimes.â
Now that you were hovering above him, you were suddenly self conscious about how excited you were and if your arousal was seeping onto his face. You couldnât even see if he was thrilled or not, since he had turned you to face away from him, but the way his cock jumped in front of your eyes told you enough. His hands gripped your thighs tight. âI donât want to crush you,â you said nervously.
âYou could suffocate me and I wouldnât have a problem with it."
You chewed on your bottom lip. His tone was firm, probably the most serious youâd ever heard from him. But you were embarrassed and this was crazy and you still so wet. With flushed cheeks, you asked, âMingyu, are you ââ
âYes,â he answered before pulling you down onto his face.
He wasnât teasing you tonight. He was devouring you without even letting you catch your breath. His tongue swiping at your clit before he sucked on it â hard. So hard that you let you a sound that was a mixture of a yelp and a moan. Gripping you roughly, he spread you wider, drinking more of you in. Your hips moved on their own, grinding against his face, which made him groan into your pussy. The vibration in his voice spread throughout your entire body, goosebumps lining your flesh. âMingyuuu,â you whined, begging for more, and you could practically feel him smirk as he flicked at your swollen clit.Â
Leaning forward, you turned your head up and noticed again just how hard he was. His cock had always been perfect: the perfect size, dark pink at the tip, veins etched into the shaft. Precum beaded at the head, sliding down every so slowly, as he throbbed and ached and â god, his hips were almost thrusting into the air now. You didnât doubt he could get off for hours on this, but that didnât mean he needed to be unsatisfied.
Besides, you wanted something to do with your mouth anyway.
Mingyu whimpered as you shifted slightly to reach his cock. Your body stretched, your mouth at the perfect angle as you flicked the head with your tongue. He pulled you back towards his mouth, shoving his tongue inside your tight hole and making you gasp at the same time you licked a stripe up his shaft. His tongue worked you open while you swirled your own along the tip, and then finally took him into your mouth.
The grunt he released shouldâve caused an earthquake.
You bobbed your head up and down his shaft, choking when he bucked into your mouth. You could hardly breathe, taking every opportunity to inhale through your nose, but you couldnât stop. You didnât want to stop. God forbid, you have a hobby like wanting Kim Mingyuâs cock in your mouth. He took the liberty of grinding you against his face with his own hands, wrapping his lips around your clit again, eager to taste your climax. And to be honest, he wasnât sure how much longer he was going to last if you kept sucking on his tip like that. He groaned each time, feeling your tongue circle his head before going back down, taking as much as you could, as if you were rewarding him. And he just couldnât help but whine along with you.
Your lips pulled off him to kitten lick the veins along the sides of his shaft, and you breathily asked, âAre you close?â
His only response was a moan straight into your pussy.
You nodded, even if he couldnât see it, before your mouth opened like second nature. You spit on his cock and stuffed him down your throat once again. Head moving faster, you were slobbering on him like a dog in heat, trying not to gag and failing. Your free hand snaked up to cup one of his balls, and the sound he released was deafening. His tongue flicked and sucked at your clit like he had nothing left to live for, hungry for every last drop of your essence.
But then you were cumming, and he was too not long after.
You cried, choking on his cock as you came all over his face. White blurred in your vision, and you were a mess of sweat and spit and so much cum. He exploded in your mouth a moment later, hot seed running down your throat, and you consumed all of it. Neither of you wanted to miss out on the taste of each other. It was filthy, intoxicating, how much you liked this. How much you could suck him off over and over again, and not get tired of him.
You didnât know it at the time, but Mingyu would say the same about you. If not worse.
He could spend all day between your thighs and never want to leave.
When you both finally angled off each other, spent and exhausted, your breathing was heavy and off by two seconds. Mingyu was glancing over at you before you could even process, a smile playing at his swollen lips. He brushed away a strand of hair that was stuck to your sweaty forehead.
âMingyu,â you finally said, âhas anyone ever told you that you have boyfriend dick?â
Mingyu had wanted to tell you how much heâd been dreaming of that moment, how much you had haunted his dreams and left him waking up so hard that he felt he was going through puberty again. Sometimes he dreamed of how good it would feel when he finally slipped into you, inch by inch. Youâd feel like home.
Save the Date for the wedding of Lee Seokmin and Quinn Song: July 31st
You couldnât go a day without talking to Mingyu. Whether it be through text or over the phone, you were joking with him, telling him about your day, and vice versa. Just a month prior, you had tried keeping your distance, but now ⊠you simply couldnât help yourself. It was like there was a voice inside your head telling you to contact him, to send him a funny video you saw that day, to tell him about the show you were currently watching. And on nights when you had too much to drink, that voice made you text him that you missed him. He always said he missed you too.
Mingyu: Iâm watching that show you recommended
Mingyu: kinda wish you were watching it with me
Mingyu: but Iâm still content here and I can see why you like it so much
You: right?? I knew youâd like it!
You couldnât help but giggle at your phone when his texts came through. And you answered them immediately, like you always did.Â
Mingyu: what are you doing right now?
You: wouldnât you like to know
Neither of you made the effort to go on an actual date. It was all just flirty texts with a TikTok mixed in every once in a while. Promises about going back to that coffee shop someday, but never planning the day. To be honest, this was one of those moments where you were glad Mingyu was so uncommitted. If you started going on dates that didnât include a vow exchange in between, it would be so easy to fall for him again, and then be let down when he eventually didnât want to see you after wedding season.Â
Mingyu: I mean thatâs why I asked
You: Iâm hanging out with
A pillow was suddenly thrown at your head. âOw!â You shouted, head shooting up from your phone to glare at Vernon sitting on the other side of the couch. âWhat the hell was that for?â
âAnakin is literally burning alive and all you can do is look at your phone!â Vernon scoffed, turning Revenge of the Sith back on. You set your phone down on your lap as he muttered, âKinda wish I never won that bet.â
Vernon, obviously, was becoming increasingly annoyed that you and Mingyu had rekindled ⊠whatever this was. Sometimes you wondered if you were talking to Mingyu more than your best friend, but given the way Vernon was acting, that was probably the case. You probably shouldnât even be texting Mingyu while hanging out with Vernon. Bad friend move; happens to the best of us.Â
You apologized to Vernon in the best way possible: you bought him fried chicken from his favorite spot.
As summer came along, so did Seokmin and Quinnâs wedding at the end of the month, an invitation that was barely hanging on by an old Britney Spears magnet on your fridge. Quinn Song had been your first ever roommate out of college. You both had met on a Facebook group to find roommates in the area and quickly hit it off. She had been your roommate up until last year actually, when her now-fiancĂ© Lee Seokmin asked her to move in with him. It was at that point that you finally decided to live alone, besides the few days out of the week that Vernon crashed at your apartment.
The wedding was being held on a pretty island in the northeast, nestled on the expansive grounds of a bed and breakfast in the area. The spot felt warm and lived in, the exact kind of place you imagined Quinn would get married at.Â
Meeting Mingyu at the airport had been awkward, but at the very least, you two were sitting in different rows of the plane. Maybe it shouldnât have been as cringe-worthy as it was, given the fact that you two had been talking nonstop, but it was the memory that the last time you did see each other in person, you were sitting on his face and his cock was so far down your throat â
Mingyu had found your eyes a couple rows behind him on the plane. Even he was blushing now, as if he could read your thoughts.
You had rented a car once you reached your destination and threw him the keys, letting him drive the convertible down the coast while the summer breeze whipped through your hair. You tried not to notice the way his hand twitched on the gear shift, like he was itching to place his palm on your thigh, to ground himself to your presence. But he didnât. He couldnât. Especially when all you could do was stare out the window with a big smile on your face.
Unfortunately, you had to book a room at a small hotel near the bed and breakfast since all the rooms were used for the wedding party. The hotel was quaint, but definitely old and smelled like the Febreze scent your mom used to love when you were a kid. Your room was tinier than the pictures implied, but it was on the first floor and had a screen door that opened to a pretty view of the ocean. You didnât have much time to enjoy it though, considering that the ceremony was in a few hours and the reception would probably carry on until way past midnight.
You decided to rewear the floral sundress that made a previous appearance at Chan and Adriannaâs wedding. It wasnât like anyone here was at that event, and honestly, you didnât care. Throwing your hair up into a perfectly messy updo, you curled a few pieces and took your time with your diligent makeup routine. Mingyu was in his suit before you could even blink, biding his time while you got ready by watching past game recordings of the flag football team he taught and trying to identify key moves they missed out on. As you finished up and clumsily slipped on your shoes, the perfume you sprayed seemed to beckon him like a siren song, and suddenly, he was leaning against the doorframe of the bathroom, meeting your eyes in the mirror.
Your brows shot up. âDone with your flag football research?â
âYouâre beautiful,â he replied.
You turned, unable to stop your lips from pulling into a soft smile. His expression was so warm, cheeks tinged slightly pink either from embarrassment or a nasty sunburn. He was beautiful. In ways you couldnât even comprehend.Â
Holding out your necklace to him, you asked, âCan you help me put this on?â
He nodded, plucking the dainty chain from your palm. You moved back to the mirror as he struggled to open the clasp with his thick fingers, but he got it eventually. Placing the thin, gold chain around your neck, you watched the small, star-shaped pendant sit so delicately under your collarbones. He fixed the clasp on your neck, his fingers brushing the top of your spine, and you watched him lean forward in the mirror.
His lips ghosted over the shell of your ear, breath hot and making the hairs on your neck stand up. âI meant it, by the way,â he whispered, and then placed the softest of kisses behind your ear.Â
Your breath hitched, and you were unable to form a single coherent thought. For the first time in a while, he was catching you by surprise. He was moving back, and you noticed him smirk in the mirror, knowing exactly how he was affecting you. That annoying asshole â
âReady to head out?â He asked, grabbing his wallet from the desk.
You huffed and tugged the strap of your purse onto your shoulder. âOf course.â
The grounds of the bed and breakfast were bigger than you assumed, enough to fit an extremely large tent and hardwood floor for all the guests to congregate. The ceremony was held near the shoreline of the ocean, and it was so, unapologetically Quinn to have a few seashell pins in her veil as she walked towards her husband. You had known Seokmin as long as Quinn had been your roommate, but you had never seen this kind of smile on his face until now. He completely lit up at the sight of her, and he didnât waste a second to say, âI do,â once his time came.
As the guests crowded into the tent for the reception, Mingyu seemed to hold onto you like a toddler with itâs parent. His arm was locked around yours, letting you lead him through the crowd, even though he was tall enough to see over the tops of everyoneâs heads. His palm was so warm on your wrist, and then his fingers were so easily lacing through yours, and you squeezed because you simply couldnât help yourself.Â
You were able to find your table easily, but you didnât recognize the other people already there. They introduced themselves as Seokminâs friends, and you remembered seeing one or two of them at a bar. You still couldnât get a read on these people, and found yourself swiftly growing silent around their shared camaraderie. But Mingyu was suddenly so talkative, catching along with their jokes just as quickly, so you stood and whispered in his ear, âDo you want a drink?â
He leaned back to meet your eyes, and you swore time stopped for a moment. His hand reached down, squeezing your wrist, as he said, âYou know what I like.â
Jesus. Fuck. Since whendid he have you this wrapped around his finger?
(Probably since sophomore year of college.)
You nodded, swinging your head in the direction of the bar, and your feet had started to head there when you halted in place. It almost felt like your heels were glued to the floor as you found the face of the last person you expected to be here. The only face that could make all the noise drown out around you.
Your ex.
He still had that same curl that always got in his eyes. He was wearing the same suit he wore to your motherâs engagement party last year. The same watch on his wrist; the same cufflinks. Same. Same. Same. And now, he was meeting your eyes across the room. Bodies formed in clusters under the tent â some hugging, some stumbling into each other â but he was unable to look away.
Until a head popped up in front of him, standing from her chair at the table. Her wedge sandals almost made her taller than him, and her dress looked expensive enough that he probably bought it. You didnât know her, but you knew of her. Well, at least, you knew what the back of her head looked like, and that was her right there.Â
You couldnât forget the night even if you tried. Exhaustion had your shoulders sagging as you unlocked the door to your boyfriendâs apartment. He didnât typically keep it locked, but you had a key anyway. You remembered how quiet the place was, except for the soft sounds echoing from his bedroom. At first, you thought he was just masturbating, and to be honest, you were too tired to engage in anything tonight. But a voice in your head had urged you to move, to go, go, go towards his room. And you were slowly pushing open the door, only to find your boyfriend fucking your 22-year-old neighbor from behind, yanking on her short hair like a leash. You had been too scared to move, too scared to breathe, but eventually, you had started wailing. His eyes had found yours â exactly like in this moment â and he screamed, slipping away completely as your back slid to the floor. He had tried explaining, tried to yell at the young girl, but everything had drowned away in that moment, and all you could hear was the ringing in your ears â
Your breathing was growing rapid, just like that day at his apartment. Sprinting to the inside of the bed and breakfast, you tried to act normal and say hello to whoever you knew mingling by the bathroom. But something was clearly very wrong. It was evident in your eyes, the way tears were pricking at the sides. You almost thought the universe was pulling a cruel prank on you, but then you remembered that it was Quinn who had introduced you two in the first place, that he had been a friend of a friend.Â
Climbing up the staircase in the lobby, you plopped yourself down on the middle step and let your face fall into your hands. You began to count your breaths â one, two, three, one, two, three â anything to make you get a semblance of control. But you could feel your brain spinning, and your heart was beating too fast. Was this what it felt like to die? Was your cheating ex going to be the last face you saw before you completely slumped against this staircase? Vernon always said you had a flair for the dramatic. What a fitting way to end.
You felt a weight sink into the plush carpet next to you, and you lifted your head, tears brimming your eyes.
âYou do realize that this isnât your party. You canât cry if you want to,â Mingyu joked, reaching out and swiping the tear at your lash line. His eyes softened then, looking at you like you were something fragile, like a baby bird. âWhatâs wrong?â His voice was hardly about a whisper.
You sniffled, dabbing at the corners of your eyes with your knuckles. The last thing you needed was your makeup messed up. âThis is so embarrassing. Iâm crying over something so âŠâ Your words trailed off, noticing that he was leveling a look at you. You sighed before admitting, âI forgot that the bride, Quinn, might invite my ex because they were friends. Somewhat.â
âYour ex? As in that ex?â His brow shot up, and you nodded. âDid he come alone?â
You looked down at your hands in your lap, and after a moment, you watched his large palm slowly envelope one of yours. The rough pads of his fingers â the hands of a cook â brushed over your knuckles, and his touch was so warm that it could burn.Â
His voice was soft in your ear as he said, âYou donât have to talk about it if you donât want to.â
You chuckled a little, turning to look at him again. âThen weâd be sitting on this staircase forever.â
He smiled at you and stretched out his long legs. âThatâs fine with me.â
Your lips pursed, and you found him staring at them for a moment. A sigh escaped, and you glanced down at your laced hands. How perfectly they fit together, how he held you with such a fierce softness. His thumb grazed the scar on your knuckle that you got the first time you fell off your bike. Finally, you answered, âHe came here with the girl he cheated on me with.â
Mingyu didnât speak, but you did hear him do a sharp intake.
âSheâs twenty-two. She didnât â she doesnât know any better. Heâs in his early thirties and heâll do it again,â you continued, chewing on your bottom lip for a moment. âI found them in his apartment after I came home from a late meeting at work. It was ⊠messy. Walking in on them, the fallout, now this ⊠everything about that breakup has felt like one big mess. And now, I have to see him here and be reminded of it allâfuckingâover again.â
You didnât even dare to meet his eyes as the next words tumbled out of your mouth, already feeling your voice start to break again. âIt didnât just hurt because I found them. It hurt because ⊠I never wanted to become my mother. I love her. I really do. But the last thing I ever wanted was to become her. Be in the same situation as her. And yet, there I was, witnessing yet another infidelity that would affect my life for what seems like forever.â You rubbed at your running nose. âI found my father cheating too. It wasnât exactly the same. I found him kissing my best friendâs mom in my parentâs bedroom one night when my mother stayed at work too late. The sentiment still stands, and history was always bound to repeat itself. Daughters always become their mothers and I always have to bear witness to another man not choosing to stick around ââ
Mingyu stopped you by turning your face towards his, one hand cupping your cheek. His thumb skimmed the tears running through your blush. He didnât say anything; his eyes let you know that he was here. That he was sticking around. Despite everything you thought of him, despite your past â Mingyu was here.Â
He held you for as long as you needed, gathering you in his arms and cradling your head against his shoulder. He let your tears soak into the fabric of his expensive suit, promising heâd get it dry-cleaned, which made you laugh. Your fingers clutched his lapels and you almost considered not letting go. You would give anything to stay in this bubble, to sit on this staircase in his embrace forever.
âI meant what I said all those months ago,â he said, his voice muffled from his lips at the crown of your head. âI would kill any guy that has done you wrong. Do you want me to kill him?â
You chuckled and raised your head from his shoulder. âWhat are you gonna kill him with? A butter knife?â You shook your head. âNo chef is gonna let you in that kitchen tonight to grab a weapon. You of all people should know that.â
Mingyu grimaced. âThis conversation is getting morbid.â
Another laugh bubbled at your lips. âYou brought it up!â
âAnd youâre smiling again,â he said, making your hands hold onto him tighter. âThatâs all I could ask for.â
Such simple words could take your breath away, especially when they came from his mouth. You searched his eyes for a moment, your fingers now smoothing out the creases in his lapel. Eventually, you whispered, âI donât know if I can survive this whole reception. I hate the awkward tension, but I should stay for Quinn.â
âTrust me, I know,â he snickered, and his hand covered over yours as an anchor. âI say we stay at the reception for as long as your comfortable. Then we go to bed early. Whatever works for you.â
Your smile was so kind as you nodded along with his plan. After touching up your makeup, you took his hand and let him lead you back to the reception. Once you saw Quinn in her short, after party dress and looking at Seokmin with stars in her eyes, you instantly felt more at ease. This was her day; you wouldnât let one person sour it. And Mingyu, clearly, wasnât going to let your own nerves sour it either. Anytime you locked eyes with your ex, there Mingyu was, distracting you by whispering in your ear how pretty you looked or asking you about your best memories while living with Quinn. There was one moment where you saw your ex heading in your direction, assuming he was finally going to talk to you, and Mingyu stood up to whisk you onto the dance floor. His large arms enveloped you, holding you close, as you swayed to one of your favorite songs. Everything about him felt safe, secure, and he even let you stand on his feet when you told him you had never been that good at dancing. And when you looked at him, you noticed that he was staring at you like how Quinn looked at Seokmin during her speech. Even when you had cried, had let him in, see parts of you that not even Vernon touched ⊠he looked at you like you were the only person in the room.
You stayed at the reception far longer than anticipated. When you told Mingyu that you were too tired to stay any longer, he didnât question it. He simply grabbed your purse and jacket before taking your arm in his, walking the short distance back to your Febreze-ridden hotel. The first thing you did once you were back in your room was take off your heels. They were only a kitten heel, but your feet were already blistering, and you winced as you went to the bathroom to wash off your makeup. Mingyu had set your stuff down on the small desk before walking out onto the deck connected to your room. You craned your neck out, assuming he was going to smoke a joint, but he was just staring at the ocean, noticing how loud the waves crashed against the shore.
You padded out of the bathroom and leaned against the door frame for a moment, admiring him in the dim light. It almost left in you in disbelief how you had roped Kim Mingyu, one of the most attractive men youâd ever met and probably one of the longest crushes youâd ever had in your life, into being your wedding date for an entire year. He had a lost a bet, but he really didnât have to be here. He didnât have to invest in a new suit. He didnât have take the time off from his two jobs. He didnât have to listen to your trauma, or look at you like you were this painting to be worshipped, this Mona Lisa of sorts. Mingyu couldâve said no.Â
But he didnât.Â
âIâm going to take a shower,â you finally informed him, and he turned to meet you eyes. âCan you help me out of my dress?â
He nodded diligently, following you to the bathroom. You pulled your hair up with one hand, and with deft fingers, he slid the zipper down your back. Typically, you would hold the dress to your chest until he left the bathroom, out of respect, but you were letting it pool at your feet tonight. You stepped out of it, your gaze locking with his as you turned on the shower. You were giving him this look and he was still standing there in his half-buttoned dress shirt, hands forming into fists as he fought the urge touch you. Waiting for a sign. Waiting for your permission.
But you didnât even have to say anything. Your eyes said the words for you. As you climbed into the standing shower, he took his time removing his suit, pretending as if he wasnât fucking dying to have his hands on you, and then he was behind you, the hard panes of his chest flush against your back. He closed the shower door as the glass began to fog up.
The water was scalding as it rained down on your head, steam forming around the small bathroom. You could still feel the dried tears on your face, imprinted underneath your makeup all night, and you did your best to wash them away. Mingyu noticed the way your shoulders sagged, the way you sighed while you were lost in thought, and as much as wanted touch you in places that made those sweet sounds fall from your lips, he held himself back. Instead, he let his hands comb through your wet hair before scrubbing shampoo into the strands. You relaxed against him, closing your eyes as he washed your hair.
It was so domestic that you could cry.Â
(Again.)
The last person you ever thought could be capable of this kind of care was Mingyu. You both had known each other for eight years, and not once had he displayed this kind of person around you. Or maybe you just werenât paying attention, too lost in your own perception of him. Even now, you couldnât help but remind yourself of when he avoided you after the hookup in senior year. He really isnât the same guy, Vernonâs voice echoed in your head. Give him a chance. You had never trusted those words, but in this moment ⊠you realized where you had went wrong.
The water began to get cold when it came time to wash his own hair and you could tell he was struggling to rush. His mannerisms made you giggle, and even though the steam began to dissipate from the room, you still turned to his front and rested your forehead on his chest, letting the lukewarm water beat down your neck.
When you walked out of the shower, you had never felt more fresh and at ease. Your body was all warm and you had brought the comfiest pajamas for summer weather. The breeze wafting off the ocean blew through your room from the open screen door, and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore could lull you to sleep.
But right now, it seemed like neither of you were keen on the subject. As you slipped under the covers next to each other, you were grateful that there was only one bed: one large, king-sized bed that both of you could be using to spread out. Instead, you were huddled close, hair still wet from the shower, and his arms locked around you like he couldnât bear the thought of letting you go. Your hands cupped his face, studying parts of him that you didnât think of in your previous lust-induced hazes. Fingers traced his lips, brushed over the tip of his nose â where his tiny mole was stamped â before you skimmed the shell of his ear.
You almost didnât recognize your own voice as you whispered, âThank you for tonight.â
âAnytime,â he smiled.
A beat of silence. Hands stilled. Lips pursed.
âMingyu?â
âYeah?â
âPlease, kiss me.â
His mouth was on yours before you could even finish the sentence, but he still took his time exploring new ways to make you moan into the kiss. He kept one hand splayed on your back, pressing you further into him, while the other played with the hem of your loose t-shirt. Your hands knotted into his hair as he kissed you slow, savoring you like a fine meal. And you simply let him. You were like molten lava, melting in the palm of his calloused hands.Â
You felt his fingers prod at the waistband of your shorts, and it was game over. Slipping them under, he practically whined into your mouth when he realized you hadnât put any panties on after the shower. His mouth disconnected from yours, fingers sliding between your slick folds. âAre you trying to kill me?â He breathed against your lips.
âIn my defense,â you chuckled softly, âI forgot to bring them to the bathroom.â
He laughed with you, and you were debating on crying again because he was so kind and good and definitely just as obsessed with you as you were with him. No matter how many times you didnât want to admit it, you had somehow fallen into Kim Mingyuâs trap once again.Â
He kissed you again, hungrier this time, as he spread you open with his fingers. You whimpered, but he swallowed it with his tongue and began to rub tight circles on your clit. Your leg lifted, hooking onto his waist, and you bucked against his hand. Your body felt like it was on fire, but Mingyu was careful, plucking your strings like a guitar, and you needed moremoremore. Pushing two fingers inside of you, his kiss was like a sound barrier as he consumed all your sweet sounds, as if that would allow him to hear them forever.Â
It was only when you came apart that he dragged his lips to your neck, wanting to focus on your moans as he fucked you with his fingers. He felt you shake, your pussy squeezing his thick fingers, and he kept rubbing your clit through it, wanting to prolong your orgasm as much as possible. If not for you, then for him, just so he could hear you. He would make you cum as many times as you wanted if it meant he could hear his name falling from your lips.Â
Neither of you wanted to stop; all fumbling hands and shaky limbs as he finally tugged your shorts off. It was a lot more difficult to take off his boxers without separating from you, but you laughed and you were so pretty that he almost forgot what he was doing in the first place. Once he was situated, you rolled on top of him, straddling his lap. You held his face in your hands, and for a moment, you could almost see reflections of the dark ocean outside in his starry gaze. Your palms drifted down, fingertips tracing the hard panes of his chest. He was all muscle, sculpted like your very own David statue; his complexion so similar to golden hour personified.
You lifted your t-shirt off and tossed it onto the floor. Mingyu was already so hard that it hurt, but he took a few more seconds to stare at you. He wanted to remember this moment forever: the sight of you on top of him, naked and vulnerable, hair wet and a faint blush on your cheeks.
Sitting up on your knees, you positioned yourself right over his cock and gripped the shaft to get the perfect angle inside of you. You were looking at him and he was looking at you as you lowered yourself slightly, grazing his tip against your wet slit, still dripping from your previous orgasm. Mingyu groaned at the sensitivity, throwing his head back against the pillow and muttering, âThis is so mean.â
âYou like when Iâm mean,â you giggled, repeating the same words you uttered that fateful night after Chanâs wedding, when Mingyuâs face was buried between your thighs.
And Mingyu recognized it too, a grin making itâs way to his lips. But that was soon replaced by look of complete bliss as you finally sunk down onto his cock. He was the perfect size, filling you just right but never uncomfortable. He gave you a moment to adjust, but you could tell from his white-knuckled grip on your hips that he was damn near fighting the urge to thrust up into you. He didnât though. He was patient and perfect and all yours.
You anchored yourself to him with one hand on his shoulder, beginning to rock into him at a snailâs pace. Your eyes connected, and even as he moaned underneath you, he was unable to stop smiling. Mingyu let you set the pace, and you took your time, getting to know what speed had him pulling your hips harder. The angle had him buried so deep inside that you could practically feel him in your stomach, and you sighed each time as you moved against him.Â
âFuck,â he whined, shifting to sit up against the headboard. âIâve needed you so bad.â
âI know, I know,â you confessed in a breathy whimper. âMe too.â
He was digging his fingers into your hips so hard that you were sure thereâd be marks, but you didnât care right now. You just wanted him, wanted this. Wanted to be this connected to him and feel him this deep and cum together as the waves crashed against the shore outside. He began to move you on his own accord, bouncing you on his cock as he leaned forward to nip and suck at your neck. âSo pretty,â he mused against your skin, breath stuttering as your walls tightened. âSo pretty sitting on my cock.â
You were the one whining now, raking your fingers into his dark strands as your thigh muscles burned. Your breasts jumped with each slam of his hips against yours, and he planted hot, open-mouthed kisses down your throat, dipping his tongue into your collarbone, before latching his mouth around one of your nipples.
Your hands pulled at his hair. âMingyu, please,â you cooed, not exactly sure what you were begging for. Just moremoremore.Â
His eyes lifted to yours and you watched him fucking smile while tugging at your nipple. You were melting like putty, and he was able to still move you with one hand, using his free one to cup your other breast and run his thumb over that nipple. Tears pricked at your eyes, feeling him pulse inside you with each pass. And when he started to thrust up into you, you were pretty sure that you were close to seeing stars.
âWanna cum with you,â he rasped while switching breasts and flicking his tongue over your other nipple. âPlease, wanna cum inside you.â
You nodded, too cock drunk to say anything besides, âYesyesyes.â
He was rolling your hips now, practically rutting into you as he lifted his head from your chest, leaving a trail of spit. You leaned down and let his lips ghost over yours. Moans slipped from your mouth into his, and he was bouncing you on his cock so fast you almost couldnât register to breathe. His breath was hot against your lips, so close he could feel his body shaking, but he needed you to be closer, needed to feel you tightened around him and milk him for everything he was worth.
Snaking a hand between your bodies, he found your clit easily, knowing your body better than anyone ever had. All you could hear in that moment was the sound of the ocean through your screen door and skin slapping against skin. You were so wet and warm and â shit, you were starting to clench around him. He rolled your clit between two fingers, and a whimper slipped out of his mouth when he felt your pussy clamp around his throbbing cock.
He needed to cum and so did you and â fuck, he could feel it, feel you, feel how deep he was inside.
He would do this forever if you asked.
âFuck, Mingyu, oh my god, right there, right there ââ You pleaded in his ear, feeling yourself tip right over that edge â
Then you were cumming.
And so was he.
You moaned his name like it was a prayer, shattering as you came undone. Your walls were squeezing him like a vice, and he was unable to hold himself back anymore, burying himself to the hilt before painting your insides white with his orgasm. Hips jerked, bodies went taunt. You felt your whole being dissolve into nothing but pleasure, molding yourself to him in his arms. When the rush of warmth started to fade and he felt your combined releases seep from between your thighs, he breathed out a sigh of relief, brushing kisses over your jaw.
You werenât sure you were in your right mind. Everything was so hazy. But you didnât want to move away just yet. Even when his cock started to go soft inside of you, you stayed connected to him, pushing his hair back from his forehead and whispering praises in his ear like, âYou were so good ⊠So good to me ⊠My Mingyu ⊠Iâve always been yours âŠâ You could feel him smiling against your skin, his hands tracing circles on your lower back.
But as time seemed to stop and you felt peace for the first time in a while, you realized just how deep you had fallen. You were drowning in him.
Mingyu had wanted to tell you that it felt exactly like his dreams. If you were drowning in him, he had already sunk to the bottom a long time ago.
Save the Date for the wedding of Nathan Chaney and Your Mother: September 5th
Your mother was remarrying. Her and Nathan had been together since you went off to college, and then got engaged just a year after you graduated. They decided on a long engagement, choosing to plan out a destination wedding in the Caribbean. You thought it was crazy at first, but then your mother said, âIf this is going to be my last wedding â and it is â I want to go out with a bang.â You couldnât exactly blame her. After your dad had cheated and the divorce was finalized, you knew your mother deserved something like this. She deserved the world.
When she had called you just a week before the wedding, babbling on about who you were possibly bringing now that your ex was completely out of the picture, you paused. Holding the phone to your ear and watering one of your half-dead plants with the other, you said, âIâm ⊠Iâm going with Mingyu.â
âVernon?â She asked, not believing what you said.
âMingyu.â
âLike ⊠the Mingyu from university? The football player?â
You sighed, playing with the dead leaves on the plant. âHe was also â and still is â one of Vernonâs good friends.â
âOh,â your mother said, more surprised than anything. âWell, you better watch for Nathanâs sister. If Mingyu looks anything like how I remember from Family Day, she will go buck wild over him.â
âIâll make sure of it,â you chuckled.
The truth was ⊠you werenât exactly sure how this wedding was going to go. Ever since the last one, you had been progressively putting more distance between you and Mingyu. Once again. Your last night together had been so real ⊠too real, and you wanted to save yourself from the heartbreak after this wedding when you never saw him again. As much as you hated to admit it, feelings were now involved, seeping into your bloodstream, until your heart thrummed like the sound of his name on your tongue.Â
Slowly pushing him away ⊠it hurt, but it was better this way. Pain was temporary and so was your arrangement. You knew that going into it, so how did you end up in this mess? You remembered what had happened after Chanâs wedding, the way Mingyu looked at you as he was shotgunning smoke into your mouth and â yeah, you knew exactly how you ended up here.
If you kept telling yourself this was for the better, maybe youâd start believing it. Maybe your feelings would drift like smoke and your motherâs wedding would be a final farewell before you two went your separate ways.
But you had been doing that for a month now.
And those feelings refused to fade.
You had an early morning flight the day of your motherâs wedding. Typically, you wouldnât be getting to a destination wedding on such short notice, but the ceremony was small. So small your mother refused to have a rehearsal dinner and no bridal party. It was about her and Nathan, and you had to respect that she was doing things her way this time around.
You had waited at your gate right before doors closed for Mingyu, since you were on the same flight. But he was clearly running late and you were much too awkward around him now to text him. So you finally got on the plane and found your seat, noticing the one seat in the back still left unoccupied. Once you had landed five hours later, you quickly headed to the hotel that Nathan had booked for the ceremony and reception. Your phone lit up as you hailed a ride.
Mingyu: Iâm sorry, I got a new flightÂ
Mingyu: Iâll be there just 2 hours after you land
Mingyu: Iâll make it for the ceremony. I promise
Feeling his anxiety radiate through your phone, you believed him, and then wondered if maybe this was a blessing in disguise. You were rewarded a few more hours of alone time before you had your last hurrah with Mingyu. Maybe if you buried your feelings deep enough, you wouldnât tense up the second you saw his face. Maybe if you didnât look into his eyes, you wouldnât have the urge to kiss him. Or let him hold your hand. Or spread your legs to welcome him inside â
You dropped your lipgloss onto the bathroom counter, sick of your own thoughts. Your square-neck, baby blue dress was clinging to every curve, but you felt like you were being suffocated by the fabric. You had just finished doing your hair and makeup, but you couldnât quite keep your thoughts at bay. Nerves batted against your skull, making your hands shake slightly. What would you do once Mingyu walked in? Would you avoid his stare? Would you tell him immediately how much you liked him and how this wouldnât work out and you knew you set yourself up for heartbreak â
Maybe you needed a walk.
Grabbing a spare pair of sandals, you headed outside to walk the beach just along the grounds of the hotel. There was still an hour before the ceremony, and you could just see the planners putting finishing touches on the decorations laid out on the shore, where your mother wanted it to take place. Couples were still walking through the water. Kids were making sand castles. The sun was slowly beginning to set and the breeze was whipping your hair off your shoulders.
And you smiled, despite everything you were feeling. Because where there was an end, there would always be a new beginning.
âHEY!â
You spun around, your sandals sinking into the sand. Although you recognized his voice, the last thing you expected to see was Kim Mingyu running towards you in his pristine black tux, his tie loose around his neck and blowing in the breeze. It was like something out of a movie, the kind of movie where there was supposed to be a happy ending, but you knew you werenât afforded luck like that in real life.
He stopped in front of you, running a hand through his hair. Sand sprinkled down the tops of his shoes.
âWhen did you get here?â You raised a brow.
âAbout twenty minutes ago. I flew in my tux because I figured I wouldnât have enough time to change. But now it just kind of smells like âŠâ He lifted the sleeve to his nose and inhaled. âLike peanuts and old plastic.â
You giggled, holding a hand to your mouth and just ⊠staring at him. He was smiling at you, fangs poking out from under his top lip. His skin was even prettier in the sunset. His hair, despite the messy texture, was effortless and perfect. He embodied sunshine in its purest form.
âWell, you âŠâ You looked to the water, your hands flexing at your sides. âYou didnât need to come find me out here.â
His voice was sweet, soft, like fresh sheets, when he replied, âYes, I did.â His hand reached out a little, attempting to lace your fingers together, but he stuffed them in his pockets instead. âWhen I was wondering where youâd be, I remembered something you said to me in college ⊠Do you remember Move-In Day of junior year when we had that bonfire with Vernon and a few other people? You really didnât enjoy my company back then, but I sat next to you because you agreed to sharing that god awful cheap vodka we used to like.â He laughed when you grimaced. âWe got to talking and I asked you, âIf you could be anywhere right now, where would you be?â And you said something like, âI want to be walking on a beach. Iâve always felt the most calm with my toes in wet sand.ââ
You blinked, wondering if you had heard him right. He ⊠how did he ⊠âYou remember that?â
âI remember a lot of things.â
And there he was, reaching out again and brave enough to brush his fingers over your knuckles. You looked down, watching his hand interlock with yours, and his palms were balmy and calloused. They felt familiar, like home. And you simply couldnât believe that you had deprived yourself of this.
âDid you mean it when you said, âIâve always been yours?ââ
Your head snapped up, tsking under your breath. Hand still intertwined with his, you pushed a lock of hair behind your ear. âYou came all the way out here to ask me that?â You asked, flustered and agitated.
His brow shot up. âSo thatâs a yes then?âÂ
Your mouth opened, but then closed when you realized that he caught you.Â
He added, his voice like velvet again, âThen why are you avoiding me? I can sense it.â
âWell, if youâre that sensitive to other peopleâs feelings than I guess that ââ You paused, taking a deep breath as you gathered yourself. Your ears reddened. âLook, I think itâs pretty obvious that Iâve ⊠I like you. A lot. But having feelings for you would be so messy. The last time I went through this, we hooked up and you hardly spoke to me after.â
Mingyuâs brow furrowed. âThat was years ago.â
âYou know how uncommitted youâve always been,â you quickly remarked, even though you didnât fully believe those words anymore. âWerenât you the one that told me at the start of this that men never really grow up?â
His eyes narrowed a little. âAre you playing psychological warfare with me right now?â
Slipping your fingers away from his, you shrugged. âMaybe.â
âIâve been your date to five weddings this year. It wasnât just about losing some bet. I did it for you.â He stared at you incredulously. âAre you really going to hold me to a mistake I made six years ago? When I was a shitty 22-year-old that was terrified to tell the girl I liked for years that I was interested in her?â
âI never ⊠I never thought you liked me back then.â
Mingyuâs gaze softened, and he tucked another curl behind your ear that blew in the wind. âI made you believe that I didnât because it was easier than admitting my feelings. I was terrified of rejection. And an idiot.â
You couldnât help but snort at his comment, but you knew this conversation was far from over. âWell, I âŠâ You rubbed at your nose and turned away from him, facing the water that looked almost sapphire in color. The waves sparkled under the setting sun. âWedding season is over after this and we can both go back to our normal lives. Vernon wonât flip a lid when he sees me texting you all the time and everything will be back to the way it was. I always prepared for you to just forget about me after this anyway.â
âI love Vernon, but this isnât about him.â Mingyu stepped forward into your line of vision. âWhat if I donât want to go back to the way things were?â
Your eyes flickered to his, and it was his turn to step closer again. His large palm cupped your cheek, his skin always so cozy and inviting that you just had to lean into him. Fingertips traced your brow bone as his gaze lingered on your lips.
âI donât want to forget about you or never see you again. I want to be around you,â he confessed. âI ⊠want to go on more dates with you. I want to be your date to more than just weddings.â
You hesitated, unraveling and dissecting each word in your head, before you came to the conclusion that ⊠oh, my god, he had feelings for you too. Had you always been this much of an absolute moron?
Getting on your tiptoes, you closed the distance between you two, your lips crashing onto his like the water against the shoreline. Your body almost suctioned to his, bringing him even closer when your arms wound around his neck. He kept that one hand on your cheek, the other splaying on your lower back, like how he always did when he was nervous. But he had nothing to be nervous about, because you liked him and he liked you. The world felt like it was spinning, but also just right, and his tongue was licking into your mouth enough to make you feel breathless. You could do this forever, be this relaxed in his arms, kiss him as if it was only you two in your own world. And as he tugged on your bottom lip to make your breathing heavy, you decided that your dream had become a reality.
When you broke the kiss, your cheeks were definitely flushed, even under the layer of blush you put on. Mingyu grinned, tilting his head as he whispered, âSo you have always been mine then?â
âSuch a tease sometimes,â you repeated his fateful words from June.Â
You turned, tugging on his hand playfully as the waves begin to lick at the sand near your feet. âCâmon,â you chuckled. âIf weâre late to this wedding, my mom will kill me before I can even think about calling you my boyfriend.â
Mingyu had wanted to ask you to marry him only two years later, and thank god, he finally found the words.

i literally need some heavy angst like injected into my veins rn
could you make a finnick x reader fic where she was unable to be rescued when the arena broke and later he sees her on tv like how katniss saw peeta? no worries if you canât <:-)
lots of love!!
god.
pairing: finnick odair x fem!victor reader
content warnings: existential crisis, pre-established relationship, katniss and finnick friendship, reader has been taken by the capitol, implied torture, finnick's mental health issues.
word count: 0.6k
author's note: there will (eventually) be a part two that follows on from another request :)
Finnick has never had strong opinions in whether or not a God exists. He doesn't know if he believes that when you die, you go to this good, beautiful place called heaven. He doesn't know if he believes that you don't, either.
What he does know is that he doesn't think it's fair to judge if people will spend their afterlife condemned to this so-called hell based solely on their mistakes.
All of these thoughts have never really bothered him. He didn't find it particularly interesting or necessary to spend his free time having an existential crisis.
But ever since The Quarter Quell ended three weeks ago and he has been confined to this dimly lit hospital room, he can not stop himself from wondering if the outcome would have been different if maybe he had believed in God.
Maybe if he had prayed more, the rebels would have gotten to you in time.
Maybe if he had went to church, he wouldn't be sitting here on his own, without you.
And maybe, just maybe, if he hadn't done so many awful things, this wouldn't be God's way of taking out their anger on the two of you.
Ever since The Capitol took you, Finnick has not had a solid grasp on how much time passes. He isn't entirely sure how long he sits in that hospital bed, wallowing in his thoughts. He only knows that Katniss is the one to pull him from his thoughts.
Her lips are pulled into a tight line and her eyes are tired, lacking the usual fire that gave her her name. "Are you coming for dinner?"
Finnick gives a silent shake of his head.
Katniss rolls her eyes and grabs his arm, roughly yanking him out of bed and onto unsteady feet. "I wasn't really asking." She gestures to a pair of slippers on the floor. "Put them on. If I have to sit through one more of Gale's rants about Peeta, Im going to put a bullet through my head."
Finnick's lips twitch ever so slightly. He knows that the medical staff would put her back on watch if they caught her saying that, but he's glad that she isn't walking around on eggshells around him, scared to put a foot out of line and send him into hysterics again.
Katniss gives him a poke with her foot. "Go on. Put them on already. I'm hungry."
With a heavy sigh, Finnick pushes his feet into the slippers and pulls on another robe to keep himself warm. He's just glad he doesn't have to wear District Thirteen's standard uniform; he supposes that being in the hospital wing does have it's perks from time to time.
Katniss practically drags him to the dining hall and stands by his side as they queue up for dinner. She doesn't try making small talk, and he offers her a grateful smile as they turn to find a seat.
Finnick's sea-green eyes scan the dining hall, and eventually flicker to the television screens that are slowly coming to life. His brows furrow and the breath is punched out of his lungs when he sees that it is a Capitol issued broadcast.
One that has you front and centre.
His tray falls to the floor with a loud clatter and he ends up moving on auto-pilot towards the nearest television screen. People scramble out of his way as if he's dangerous, and while that would normally hurt his feelings, he's too caught up watching your face.
"You're alive," Finnick mumbles under his breath.
Your face is hollow, with cheeks that have sunk in and your eyes are bloodshot and cold as you stare down Caesar Flickerman. He can't help but feel a spark of pride in his chest as Caesar tries to interview you, and you point-blank refuse to acknowledge his presence.
That's his girl.
The pride slowly fizzles out when he sees you being dragged out of the frame by two Peacekeepers, and it's quickly replaced with a fear that makes his blood run cold.
And then your screaming starts.

How Brooklyn Was Brought To Her Knees - Series Masterlist
Summary: New York was a dangerous city, anyone there can tell you that. The lights on Times Square hid the bleeding bodies in alleys, the teenagers with backpacks full of some kind of weapon or substance, and the other dirty scum crawling behind closed doors. Brooklyn and Manhattan hadn't been friends in years, a feud so old no one could delegate it's origin. George Barnes and Anthony Stark went from business partners to mortal enemies, and the city's held her breath for 25 years because of it. Tensions only worsened when in the span of 12 years, both of their eldest children went missing. HYDRA is stalking down the streets, with a goal they have no qualms killing for. So when Bucky Barnes is dealt the deal of a lifetime, and it all goes south, how bloody is the cost of vengeance? And is it worth losing the girl he thought he never really had? Pairing: Mob!Bucky Barnes x fem!reader Serious Warnings: this work is 18+ minors dni!!!! this is a mafia!au fic. it will contain depictions of violence, sex, drug use, alcoholism, unhealthy families, gore, and death. this is your formal warning to back out if any of that is a no for you. She-Ra fics I consider canon
Hey gang! here's a list of (mostly post-canon) fics I've read over the years that are I feel are well written and in character enough that they could be canon to the show, and to an extent, each other! I put the list in order for anyone who wants to read it like a season 6 :D
Don't Go - extended version of scenes in S5E5 and S5E6. Written by ND Stevenson so is basically already canon. Angst and fluff
Daylight - picks up a day after the s5 finale. Catra & Adora begin to really understand that they're free to live a peaceful life. Tooth rotting fluff.
Pros & Cons (NSFW) - Bow and Glimmer seem joined to Adora at the hip 24/7, and Catra just wants to make out with her girlfriend. Has a couple lines that could be seen as contradictory or foreshadowing to Carry our Bodies. Mostly 3/4ths fluff, 1/4th smut.
Carry our Bodies Safe to Shore - Adora finds an old Horde incident report, and Catra has to tell Adora about the kiss that Shadow Weaver erased from her memory. Angst and fluff.
Keep on Walking, Come What Will - Adora & Catra accidentally get engaged. Pure fluff
Alternatively, Princess Prom 2.0 (One Year Later) - Adora & Catra get engaged on purpose. Pure fluff
^ honestly, I reconcile these two by head canon-ing that the "accidental engagement," happens at the impromptu princess prom and then they get too busy for a wedding and then the on purpose engagement happens at the real princess prom, because both are so well written and so in character.
Anachronism (and sequel) - Adora & Catra get traumatized again while rescuing Angella.
^ (Fic is pretty good, mostly on here because I haven't found any fit that does "rescuing Angella" better, lmk if you have any recs!). Angst and Fluff. I don't think there's any NSFW but it's a long fic and it's been a while since I read it.
If anyone has any other recommendations for this list please leave them in the replies! I would love to expand this list until I have a sixth season worth of content!! (also only one NSFW fic rn cause I mostly read fluff lol but if anyone has NSFW recs that feel canon send those as well!)
Addition 1: honorable mention for Breathing Room by ResFlower because it is almost IDENTICAL to a scene from one of the others where Catra has to break it to Adora that their fight in the Red Waste was actually Double Trouble.

Mistakes and regrets
â Pairing: Loki x Reader
â Synopsis: Loki is a prisoner that sees his way out through pretending to date you, but when he finds true love he doesn't know how to deal with the guilt of making a very similar damage to the one that had been done to him when he was used for what originally were selfish reasons.
â Word Count: 10.5k, I think that's my longest fic yet, and written in the shortest time lapse, not sure what that says about my mental stability rn.
â Notes: As I proofread I noticed this could be interpreted as generational trauma, sort of... given I made Loki sort of mirror what Odin did to him. But I wasn't trying to be deep, I just felt like shit during the week and used this to cope. The fic might be cringy as a result, I am honestly not sure.
â Warnings: Depression and guilt are the focus points of this storyline. Loki starts is kinda toxic his behavior here isn't meant to be romanticized or intended to be extrapolated to real life, I just wanted to explore a narrative surrounding poor decisions and the dealing of its consequences. The reader is kinda a Mary Sue of sweetness but I just wanted to hammer in Loki feeling bad and guilty. I don't know if this is a trigger but I touch the vault scene of Loki and Odin and Odin being forgiven is also handled, Idk if that's trigger warning worthy but I know most of the fandom hates him.
âYouâre not making it any for me brother.â Thor spoke through the glass.
âI want my freedom, brother.â Loki sighed, sitting down on the uncomfortable bench. âDonât think of me as ungrateful, but as much as I appreciate not being executed, I canât exactly call this a life.â
âDirector Fury insisted, Iâve tried explaining to him that New York was a complicated situation. But he wants to be sure you are not a threat to Earthâ uh, Midgard.â
âYou've surely adapted well to living hereâ Loki rolled his eyes. âPathetic.â
âCooperate with me, I brotherâ Thor begged. âI want to help you, but I need you to help me first.â
âIâm not sure what I am expected to do from hereâ Loki huffed annoyed.
Thor sighed and gave his little brother a sympathetic look. Loki was frustrated, and he couldnât blame him. He would be too if he got brainwashed, had all his anger, sense of betrayal and resentment exploited to torture an innocent planet, and still be the one to pay for said crimes⊠Sure he wouldnât be all jokes and laughs.
âIâve been negotiating a way to test your stability and get your freedomâ Thor smiled hoping to cheer up his brother. And he made Loki look up. âItâd be a bit uncomfortable at first. But I know you can prove yourself. Youâd have to wear cuffs or a while, but youâd be free to walk around with me and the others on trips to the city.â
âHoorayâŠâ Loki rolled his eyes.
âPlease brother, Iâm trying, I just need you to be patient.â Thor spoke sadly as he made his way out. âI hate this as much as you do.â
âDo you?â Loki said. âAs far as I know, youâre not the one in a crystal cell.â
âAlright, almost as much as you do.â Thor joked softly and Loki did chuckle weakly.
He agreed that Thor had been furious. But it all happened so fast.
Thor had managed to land a fatal blow on Thanosâ chest and soon Steve, Natasha, and Bruce had arrived to back him up and retrieve the Infinity gauntlet. They opened a portal to bring back Tony, Doctor Strange, and the Spider Ling⊠And surprisingly a weird group of space travelers.
When Thor realized they could travel to anywhere in the universe they opened a portal to rescue the Asgardian ship. There were a lot of severe wounds but surprisingly Thanos had failed, he underestimated the strength of Asgard, and most people could be saved.
âThor!â Valkyrie screamed and rushed to hug the king.
ïżœïżœïżœValkyrie! You are alright! Thank goodness!â Thor smiled in relief and hugged his friend.
âThor you have to come quick!â Valkyrie urged him. âItâs Loki!â
Thorâs heart sank, his heart couldnât stand burying the only family member he had left. Thor had lost his parents⊠he had seen his whole planet die. But not his baby brother. Not Loki. Not again.
âPlease⊠not now⊠Letâs treat the wounded ones firstâŠâ Thor spoke with a knot on his throat. âI want to focus on saving lives first.â
âThor, you donât get it! Heâs alive!â Valkyrie scolded him. âBut heâs in a critical state! We need to take him to a safe place to treat him.â
A tear streamed down the new kingâs face, and he felt as if he had finally put down a enormous boulder he had been holding onto. He didnât lose Loki.
âTake me to him!â Thor urged them.
Valkyrie took Thor to a damaged room in the ship that had been used as an improvised infirmary. In the corner laid a figure Thor knew too well being treated by healers.
âBrother!â Thor said. âOh Gods⊠Youâre aliveâŠâ
âYou canât get rid of me that easily thunder brain⊠ughâŠ!â Loki joked weakly as he groaned in pain. The healers begged him not to move as they tried stabilizing his condition. His neck had been nearly obliterated.
It was a miracle Loki hadnât died and that the healers had managed to find him on time.
âWe couldnât abandon himâ one of the healers spoke politely to her king. âAfter all, it was because of you and prince Loki that Lady Valkyrie managed to evacuate the survivors. We apologize for not finding you, my king.â
âItâs no problem at allâ Thor laughed in an uncharacteristically quiet manner. He was breathless. âThank you for saving my brotherâs life.â
The lady healer let out a sheepish giggle and bowed. Loki rolled his eyes, earning a lecture from the healers that were still treating him. King or not, Thor still had that charm that seemed to make most people swoon.
The reunion was interrupted by a group of soldiers that broke in with a logo on their uniforms that made Thorâs blood boil when they pointed their weapons at Loki. SHEILD.
They picked up the stretcher where Loki was laying in and took him away to lock him up.
Apparently, the news travel fast, but SHIELD travels faster, and hearing Loki was alive was enough to mobilize and capture the injured God and lock him in a crystal prison cell in a SHIELD base. If Loki had a coin for every time that happened⊠heâd have two.
He couldnât say Thor didnât do anything about it. He could hear the thunders and enraged screams from his brother, demanding for an explanation and Lokiâs immediate liberation.
âI demand my brother is released immediately!â Thor yelled.
âYou should consider yourself grateful weâre allowing your witches to go and heal that world-level threat! He would be better off dead!â
âDonât you dare speak of my brother like that! Me and all of my people wouldâve died if it wasnât for him!â
Loki wasnât sure if he was amused or if he felt bad.
It did stroke his ego being called âAsgardâs heroâ in the middle of the yelling. It shouldnât have surprised him that Nick Fury was just as loud as Thor when angry. He couldnât complain much. It made it much easier to hear what was going on, which was good, he was too weakened to use his magic to spy on them.
The healers tending to his neck sure seemed awkward overhearing the fight. It must have been uncomfortable to be doing your job in a high security cell. So, he tried entertaining the healers as he could. Although all he got was a lecture when his magic drained his energy, and they needed him awake to monitor him.
Soon he got better, he but wasnât allowed to be out of his cell. It was a bit nostalgic, in some dark and twisted way. It even made him want to fix his old horned helmet, even if Thor would call him a cow for wearing it.
And when things couldnât get worse⊠he met you.
âItâs lunch timeâ a voice said in a weirdly friendly tone before you head popped by the entrance as you balanced a tray of food on your head in an attempt to amuse Loki. He wondered if there were buffoons in Midgard, but you always tried to draw a laugh from him⊠Tried.
âTough crowd, eh?â
Loki couldnât not be baffled by the way you talked to him. Although he couldnât decide if that was because you surely knew his reputation as Midgardâs terrorist or because you always talked in a friendly and goofy tone in a maximum-security prison in a super-secret spy agency. You also seemed to be awfully young to be here, but you couldnât be much older than the girl Barton took as his protĂ©gĂ©e.
âWhatâs on the menu today?â Loki asked in a more formal tone.
âWhy the hurry?â you asked, âdonât tell me you got somewhere else to be.â
âYou think you are a lot funnier than you really areâ Loki rolled his eyes. âAnd itâs not very nice to make fun of someoneâs disgrace.â
âI hear you think Iâm at least a little bit funnyâ you smiled as you kept balancing the tray of food on your head.
âPlease donât drop my food, Iâd like to have at least something to eatâ he rolled his eyes.
You tripped on your feet, and he saw the tray falling down, you caught it last second with your shins, and gave him a little sheepish grin.
âAlright, alright, Iâm impressedâ Loki groaned. âCan I eat now please? Or is having you torment me part of some attempt to break me?â
âWhy are you so moody?â you asked. âMore than usual, I mean.â
âIâm starving, and you humans eat way too littleâ Loki finally admitted. âBut that is still better than nothing⊠Please.â
You stopped playing around and you looked at him as you got the tray into his cell.
âSorry, I didnât know you were eating so little.â You admitted.
âI barely have energy to cast small illusions, which would serve to entertain myself.â Loki complained as he sat to eat and you sat by the table and looked at him, you didnât seem afraid, curious at most. You watched him eat and took his dirty plates by the end.
You weirded him out.
You always did something along the same lines; you came to bring him food, teased him a little and then left when you were gone. Although this time you had asked more questions about him. And you seemed more pensive while he ate.
And later that day he got a surprise. Usually, he just saw you to deal with you while he ate. But today you returned with a brown paper bag on your hands and a backpack, you never carried personal objects with you.
âWhat now?â he groaned.
You said nothing but opened the door to pass him food and slid the bag inside. Loki opened his end and grabbed the bag, it was warm, and it had a strong smell inside, he reached and pulled out a weird soft cushion with a white cover.
âBurâŠger? What this?â he asked as he read the yellow letters.
âItâs foodâ you smiled. âCafeteria is closed until dinner, so I thought bringing you something else might boost your mood.â
âThis looks like junkâ he snarled, making you laugh.
âItâs something like that.â
Loki looked inside the bag and looked at you.
âThereâs no fork.â
âYou eat it with your handsâ you smiled and pretended to grab a burger and bite it. âLike a sandwich.â
âWhatâs a sandwich?â Loki asked, making you laugh again.
Loki tried to take a bit, imitating your gesture, but you stopped with a squeaky laugh.
âUnwrap it first!â you laughed. âThe white thing paper is not edible.â
Usually Loki wouldâve argued more. But he had been really hungry, so he agreed.
âThe taste is agreeable enough.â
âTry the fries!â you said eagerly.
âThese yellow sticks?â he asked pulling out one fry from the bag, and you giggle once again, he was learning you were quite easy to amuse.
âYes, the yellow sticks, theyâre potatoes with salt and soaked in hot oil to cook themâ you smiled.
âThat sounds unhealthyâ he said, but he surely didnât pass up the extra meal, and while heâd never admit it, but it was tasty.
âIt is on the long runâ you agreed. âBut you donât eat these every day. Itâs more like⊠something you eat when you particularly crave it. Like a treat.â
âWhatâs on your bag?â Loki asked, a lot more agreeable now with a full stomach.
âAh, you said you didnât have much to doâ you said and passed him bag. âItâs a portable DVD player and old movies.â
âI understood the word portable from that whole sentenceâ Loki said in an obvious tone.
He wasnât new to technology, but unlike Earth, Asgard only used technology for practical purposes like travel and fighting. Never for entertainment.
âYou can watch recorded over produced plays on the screenâ you said adapting to what Loki might be familiar with. âFury said you canât have access to internet, so I thought since I donât use this anymore itâd keep you entertained while Thor negotiates your freedom. And if you need something else, I could surely get it for you.â
Loki was trying to process it all while he followed your instructions to set up the devices you brought him. Now heâd finally give some use to the electricity plugins on his cell.
âWhy are you so nice to me?â Loki asked.
âI donât knowâ you shrugged. âYou seem like you could use some kindness.â
âIâm a charity case?â Loki asked, not sure if he was thankful or offended.
âYou wish. If I was charitable, I wouldâve brought a fancy brand of fast food, and youâre a good junkyard to bring my old stuffâ you snarled, making Loki laugh, for real this time.
Your cheeks flushed and were soon surrounded in a clod of silver mist. And when it disappeared you had vanished already.
Now that⊠Loki didnât see coming. He had heard of your kind when he took control of some of SHIELD agents, humans with supernatural abilities. You were a mutant, and for the looks of it, one with teleportation powers. Now it made sense why someone seemingly so ordinary was in a place like this, flirting with a prisoner.
Interesting.
The next few days you kept bringing him food as usual, but two things had changed. One, the portions were bigger now, Loki now got to eat to a point where he was satisfied. Two, you joked around a lot less, in fact, you simply brought the food and stayed nearby in silence, and Loki had caught you staring at him with rosy cheeks.
So, you did fancy him⊠Truly interesting. And quite flattering too, he at least had to agree you were quite appealing to stare at.
âI watched one of your⊠Dee Bee DeesâŠâ Loki started the conversation while he ate. âThe one with the funny doctorâŠâ
âThat⊠doesnât narrow it down muchâ you finally spoke. âSarcastic asshole with a wounded leg?â
âHe is sarcastic, but he treats patients with joy and laughter and goes against the rules. Like the pair of legs at the entranceâ Loki specified. âIt was a sweet story⊠I did feel bad for him when he lost his⊠you know.â
âAh, yeahâŠâ you said sadly.
For a few more days, the routine kept like that, you seemed a lot shyer than before and now Loki was the one pursuing your attention and with an arsenal of movies you had watched he always had a way to start conversation.
When he was sure he had properly understood your interest in him, he made his move.
While Loki wasnât as flashy as Thor, he never had much trouble swooning anyone of his interest, with years of etiquette lessons and nourishing his mind with the most exquisite novels and books Asgard had to offer he knew how to charm anyone he desired.
And soon enough he was courting you. He recited for you the collection of the most exquisite verses he had memorized and casted his illusions of roses and butterflies for you to enjoy a romantic set up.
Soon Fury had two people demanding for his liberation. And since Loki had been in his best behavior Fury didnât have an excuse to keep Loki locked up and while he had a tracker on his ankle and Asgardian magic bracelets capable of suppressing his magic.
You were there when they let Loki out and he made sure to hug you first. The more in love he seemed, the sooner heâd be truly free. You melted against his embrace and wrapped your arms around him in a warm hug.
Loki felt a light tug on his chest. He couldnât remember the last time someone out of his parents and Thor been so eager and happy to hug him.
âI had been dreaming of thisâŠâ you spoke softly. âAnd your hugs are even cozier than I imagined.â
That felt like a dagger to his heart. Why were you so sweet?
âAlright, Bambi, if you try something your little sweetheart will let us know right away, got it?â Tony warned him.
You wrapped your arms around Lokiâs bicep pressing yourself against him.
âHeâs gonna be perfectâ you defended him. âAnd if Iâm wrong you can lock me up as well for helping a criminal out.â
Second dagger. What kind of idiot were you trusting him so blindly? Could you really not see he just wanted his freedom?
Loki finally had a proper room, or something like that. He would be staying in the Avengers Compound when the Helicarrier landed⊠until then there was a room where he, Thor, and basically everyone stayed.
Your bed the one right above Lokiâs. Loki sighed. Just a few more days. Loki laid down and saw you looking down at him, peeking from your bed with big sparkling eyes.
âYes?â Loki said in his best sweet loving tone.
âS-SorryâŠâ you mumbled as your cheeks got red. âIâm just really happy youâre here.â
âAww, young loveâŠâ Kate cooed.
âSHUT UP! IâM OLDER THAN YOU!â you screeched and threw a pillow right at her face, making Loki smiled softly.
âYouâre both babiesâŠâ Yelena grinned.
âShut up, you hag!â you and Kate argued.
âYouâre all babiesâŠâ Bucky corrected.
âDONâT STICK YOUR NOSE, YOU FOSSIL!â the three of you argued.
âIâm⊠not gonna join this argument being 1,500 years oldâ Thor laughed and soon eased the mood in all laughter again.
Meanwhile Loki wouldnât stop thinking what you said to him. âIâm happy youâre here.â Third stab⊠How could you be so happy and attached to him so easily and quickly?
The next few days he had resigned to adapt to train with you. He had been a warrior all his life, but being a soldier was too boring for him. It was a lot of training, gym workouts, more training, and meetings. He saw you nodding off during the latter. Where did you pull the energy to play and joke around with him when you went to bring food to him while he had been locked up?
You yawned and rested against his shoulder as you dozed off during lunch once. You were so warm and trusted him more than he deserved. You seemed awfully comfortable around him.
Every spare moment you had was dedicated to him, you were awfully cuddly and touchy. Loki wasnât used to this in the slightest. At first playing along seemed impossible. But your kisses were so gentle and tender, more often than not he found his eyes fluttering close and his hands wrapping around your waist in a loving way. Even sharing a room with a lot of people seemed more fun if he got to study your reactions.
âTake that!â you screamed as you and Kate smacked each other with pillows, but when a stray pillow hit Natasha in the back of the head, it was war.
Everyone was throwing and hitting each other with pillows until someone pushed you to Lokiâs arms who had stayed out of the war as just a bystander. No one seemed to be paying much attention to him, but now you were.
Your face was beet red, and you were blabbering apologies if you had hurt him, (which, you hadnât). But Loki simply smiled and grabbed your sides and started squeezing them, causing you to squeal and burst out laughing.
Oh, of course you were ticklish, he shouldâve known. Hel, you irradiated this aura that just screamed âtickle me!â And as the God of Mischief, he was drawn to ticklish little things such as yourself, to make sure he could exploit every ticklish little inch of your giggly body. It had always been a pretty harmless way to ease his need to cause mayhem.
Soon the entire room was in fits of laughter since Loki had unintentionally inspired a tickle war.
âH-Hohohohoney! Pleahahahahase!â you begged Loki, âthahahahahat tickles!â
âSo? I hope it doesnât bother you, my dearâ Loki purred in your ear as his fingers traveled up and down your ribs, causing you to screech. âI think Iâd like to play with my pretty little toy some moreâŠâ
âNohohohoho! Please! Hehehehehe! S-Stop it!â you giggled until you had proofed to reappear at the top bunk bed, right by the time someone else had surrendered and called truce.
Thor. His stomach was sore from laughing and he needed a break. But the big Asgardian was confident enough to not be affected by being the one to surrender in such harmless play fight.
âIâm nostalgicâ Thor laughed. âReminds me of the sleep overs with Fandral, Volstagg, Hogun and Sif.â
âI wouldnât know, I was never invited.â Loki said.
âWHAT?!â you gasped and threw a pillow at Thorâs head in Lokiâs defense. âJERK! TO YOUR OWN BROTHER!â
âWhat do you mean?â Thor asked. âYou rejected us every time.â
âWhat are you talking about? You never invited me, brotherâ Loki explained. âBy the time I had found out, you were all locked in your chambers.â
âSif and the guys always said you said noâ Thor said. âThatâs why I always made smaller sleepovers with just you and me. I thought you hated big groups.â
Loki never thought Thor had been clueless, if anything he thought it had been him who rejected him, it never occurred to him it was the rest that orchestrated Lokiâs exclusion. It made sense in retrospect, they were more Thorâs friends, not Lokiâs.
âI enjoy time to myself,â Loki agreed. âBut Iâve never been against big events. I always thought it was you who didnât want me near your friendsâŠâ
âOf course not, brotherâŠâ
âDonât feel bad, Lokiâ Yelena said in a tone that eased the mood. âNat used to have sleepover with friends and ban me from her room the whole night. But weâre sisters, adopted or not.â
âI said I was sorry, and I was 11 you resentful crybaby!â Natasha argued with a laugh.
You noticed that had hit a sensitive spot-on Loki and went to sit behind Loki to give him a hug from behind. And it was unexpectedly comforting, he sighed as you kissed his cheek. Growing more and more used to your doting affection, you were also rather good to read his mood by now.
It just made him feel more guilty, so he tried changing the subject.
âYou poof around when tickled, hm?â Loki chuckled. âNoted.â
âNot just when Iâm tickled, when I get worked up by almost anythingâŠâ you explained. âI canât always control it.â
âI see⊠so, I get you all worked upâŠâ Loki flirted, making you jolt and squeak with a red face. âHeh⊠Iâm flattered.â
âWhat about you?â you asked when you calmed down, resting your chin on his shoulder. âDoes something like that happen to you?â
âMmm⊠my magic is also very tied to my feelings is mostly surges of magic when Iâm pissed off.â Loki shrugged. âIn a way, the source of my magic abilities come from my control of how I feel. Which is why Thor could never learn sorcery⊠he couldnât ever keep calm and focus enough.â
It felt a bit of a cheap answer, his guilt told him you were always vulnerable with him. There was another thingâŠ
Alright, now that no one was paying attention to you two.
âWhen I was little, I used to have a lot of nightmares, and my mother stayed with me and taught me this spell⊠it allows you to invite someone else to your dreams, to put it simply. She taught me that spell to help me with the bad dreams⊠And sometimes I still cast it involuntarily while I sleep. Itâs⊠whatâs the word? Automatic, at this point.â
âYou havenât used it since we metâ you pointed out.
âThereâs these preventing thatâ Loki wiggled the magic cuffs on his wrists, and you shrank sheepishly. âMaybe one day Iâll have you sleep visiting⊠who knowsâŠâ
You smiled too eagerly at the idea⊠it was painful to see the adoration in your eyes.
The next night you were chatting happily, you laid on the floor with your feet hanging on Lokiâs bed. Surprisingly he didnât mind too much, he found himself much more engaged on the conversation. He simply rested his hand on your shin, caressing it with his thumb.
But at some point during the chat his hand brushed by your ankle, something that shouldâve caught his attention way sooner. A location tracker like his. He brushed his fingers along the band, and you jolted, quickly making a bad excuse before rushing out. A terrible liar dating the god of lies. How ironic.
âI didnât know⊠I thought I was the only one with one of theseâŠâ Loki pointed to his tracker.
âAll mutants and non-SHIELD affiliated have oneâ Tony explained with a yawn. âBasically, if you have superpowers, you have two options, be an agent or an avenger.â
âOr locked upâ Loki concluded, and the way no one answered, confirming his suspicion.
âYouâre gonna be joining us, right, brother?â Thor smiled.
âDo I have a choice?â
Loki chuckled, he had been thinking about this prior to this information, the fear of actually losing his brother when Thor was ready to leave him forever in Sakaar had been too great.
But what about you? You didnât strike him the superhero style, a were a fragile and sensitive little thing, and he couldnât picture you in the battlefield, but being a soldier was clearly taking a huge toll on you. You seemed perpetually exhausted living like this.
âHas my darling decided yet?â Loki asked, he didnât plan on the pet names, but it felt weirdly natural as it rolled off his tongue. It felt right.
âNot before meeting you, we had tried, but Iâd say with you two together⊠things have changed for the better.â Steve assured him. âItâs a relief though, you two would be great assets in the future, and the life at the compound is bit freer and more independent.â
For some reason, Loki smiled at the sound of that.
âItâs gonna be for the bestâ Bruce smiled. âFury can be quite severe, and the soldier life isnât for everyoneâŠâ
Loki couldnât see you long term here, youâd be overworking yourself for a lifestyle too demanding and that you didnât even like. It would be for the best to be an Avenger⊠at least thatâd give you some more freedom.
By then, the mood had died down and everyone went to bed, turning off the lights way before you arrived. A few more minutes passed⊠and nothing. Loki considered going to find you when you opened the door, guiding your way with your phoneâs flashlight. You had a messy damp ponytail, and baggy pajamas. You arrived and sat by Lokiâs bed and immediately collapsed right beside him, invading his bed. He was ready to climb and use yours when you he felt a tug on his shirt.
âLet me stay with youâŠâ you mumbled with your eyes closed, it seemed you still had some consciousness.
Loki nodded and laid down beside you, wrapping his arm over you, and tucking you under the bedsheets. He had to keep appearances. Yeah⊠Of course.
He studied you for a while. Your hair was soft, and it smelled like wild berries, shampoo he had started using as well because it smelled so nice. Your skin was soft and smooth, it was addictive to trace his fingers along your body. He traced circles along your side.
âNooo⊠thahahat ticklesâŠâ you giggled and shifted in your half-asleep state, making something stir within Loki. âYou can tickle me all you want in the morning, okay babyâŠ?â
âOhoho! Is that so?â Loki chuckled. âThatâs dangerous thing to offer to the God of Mischief donât you think?â
ââs okay⊠I trust youâŠâ you yawned snuggling against his chest.
âY-You doâŠ?â
âYouâd never do anything to hurt meâŠâ you assured him, even with your brain fighting with all itâs might to not succumb to exhaustion.
Once his eyes adapted to the darkness, he stared at your face. Your features were gentle, with a pureness that only a heart that hadnât been corrupted with cruelness and malice would have. It made him feel weak.
âI love youâ you mumbled, kissing his lips before finally falling asleep with the most peaceful smile he had ever seen on anyone that was this close to him.
âI⊠I love you tooâŠâ he whispered and kissed the top of your head.
Now Loki genuinely wanted to stab himself through the chest, he deserved nothing less.
The next morning was the last time heâd be in the Helicarrier for a long time if he could help it. Both of you got the trackers removed and he was officially free. The magic cuffs were taken off of Loki and he immediately summoned a huge illusion that had a radius of a few kilometers as he stretched and showed off.
A huge double rainbow, oh how he had missed using his magic like this. He noticed your eyes sparkling in admiration.
Thor helped him unpack and you two were assigned neighbor bedrooms so the lovey dovey couple could stay close. You seemed ecstatic, you set your room and invited him to see it.
It was very much what he expected from you. Cozy and cute, just being inside made him want to lay down on your bed and sleep. And of course you had a pile of stuffed animals. He laid back on your bed, sinking in the mattress and fluffy covers.
Adorable.
âHoney bunny, Iâm gonna go to the city alone today⊠donât follow meâ you warned him and proofed away before reappearing for a second. âAnd donât snoop around my stuff! Love ya!â
And you disappeared in a gust of silvery white mist. Loki napped on your bed for a while, but⊠he couldnât resist, he was curious by nature. He walked by your desk and saw the mirror of had a bunch of photos of him stuck to the board, he wasnât smiling in any of them, and most had been taken him by surprise. Loki wouldâve thought it weird, but the two of you were dating. And you only did what was normal for someone in a relationship. He smiled softly at how purely infatuated you were.
âLoki!â you called for him, so you had returned. He went to find you.
You had smiled so brightly as you jumped to his arms and showered his face in loving smooches.
âI missed you!â you smiled between kisses.
âYou just left an hour or soâŠâ he chuckled.
âItâs still too much time away from you!â you snuggled with him. âI missed this pretty face.â
âHehâŠâ he chuckled.
âI bought us something.â You smiled and handed him a golden bracelet with a round item on the middle. You kept the silver one. âItâs a distance touch bracelet.â
You touched your bracelet, and he felt his buzzing. Oh. He knew this couldnât have been cheap. And you still didnât hesitate to get it for him.
âNow you can feel me close, even if I vanish, or if we canât be with each other.â You giggled.
His heart fluttered. How could there be someone so overly sweet? To him, of all people.
âThank youâŠâ he smiled.
Days passed and Lokiâs sanity was evaporating in thin air. Guilt was eating him alive.
You were in truly, madly, and hopelessly in love with him. You wanted nothing but the best for him and you always showered him with love, affection and the sweetest kisses he had ever tasted. And worst of it all, he was falling in love with you. He deserved no love from you, but he had it⊠And it filled his heart with a warmth he didnât deserve. Oh, you poor lovely thing, if you only knew how cruel his intentions had been to start your relationship.
He did what you wanted now, trying to make up for it. He didnât want you to feel like you did all the job in a relationship anymore. Soon the photos were more couple y, of kisses and hugs, Loki took photos of you more as well. He invited you to read and nap with him.
He tickled you lots, and making you giggle in his arms as he held you close. He hugged you tight, trying to squeeze in all the love he had develop for the kind soul that had been nothing but sweet to him. In a wordless pray for your forgiveness.
He did everything that occurred to him would make you happy.
âNo way! Youâre ticklish?!â you gasped with an ear-to-ear grin.
âTerribly so, I canât stand being ticked in between my ribsâ he smiled as he rested his chin on your head, with you sitting on his lap. âMy magic acts up on its own if I get overwhelmed, like you.â
âReally?â you giggled and caressed his sides. âCan I try?â
âFor a kissâŠâ he smiled and puckered his lips for a smooch, which you complied with a huge grin. âI adore you⊠Fine, you got one minute to tickle my ribs.â
âJust one minute?â you whined with that lovely smile of yours.
âThirty seconds?â he smiled.
âEh?!â you whined. âOne minute!â
âSee how convincing I am?â he grinned.
âOh, youââ you said and turned around to start poking and prodding his ribs, Loki couldnât help but burst out laughing.
âAck! Hehehehe!â he whined, you were too good at this, he was laughing his heart out. âS-Stohohohop! Hehehehe! I-Itâs been a minute! Hahaha! S-Stop!â
âIâm not done with you, you pretty tease!â you giggled and kept prodding between his ribs.
âOh yeheheah?!â he laughed and skittered his fingers along your belly.
You were squealing and giggling in the blink of an eye. But you didnât stop tickling him.
âHehehehe! Hic! G-Give up!â you giggled and squirmed as you prodded his sides.
âYou give up! Hahahahaha!â he giggled squeezed your tummy and skittered his fingers along your armpits.
âAck! Noohohohoho!â you whine and squeezed above his kneecaps, making him jump and ergo you fell off his lap and onto the couch.
âYouâre in troubleâŠâ he grinned and his fingers, poked, drilled, kneaded and scratch over every sensitive spot on your body, and it didnât matter if you gave up. He didnât stop until you were breathless.
Only then he stopped and held you in his arms.
âRemind me to not tickle you again, youâre sadisticâ you smiled.
âYou know it, darlingâŠâ he smiled and kissed the top of your head. âDid you have fun?â
âMhmâŠâ you smiled and leaned against him. âI love you.â
You were beyond ecstatic. You melted under all of his affection and more time he spent with you, the more he couldnât deny his feelings for you.
He did it everything he could to make you happy. But nothing he did alleviated his guilt. He could only imagine the amount of heartache you would feel if you found out he had only used you to try looking better adjusted and be free, and that he had pretended to fall in love.
He couldnât eat, he couldnât sleep. He was going insane. He walked around the compound like a ghost during the night. He did a stop to throw up in the toilet.
âYouâre awake,â you surprised him despite your gentle tone. âIs something bothering you?â
âN-No, love. I just wasnât feeling very tired.â He assured you. âDonât worry. Go back to sleep.â
You placed your hands on his hips and leaned closer to him the way you did whenever you were going to kiss him. But you took a little sniffâprobably smelling his bad breathâyou stopped and smiled at him with kindness.
âMmm⊠Insomnia, hm?â you smiled and pulled him to the kitchen. âI know just the cure.â
You heated up water and prepared him a tea with honey. The warmth of the drink ran through him as the sweet drink got rid of the bad taste, and he sighed a tear streaming down his face.
âWhatâs wrong?â you asked, cupping his face.
âIâve done so many awful things⊠AndâŠâ he spoke softly. âI donât know how to fix them⊠I donât deserve any forgivenessâŠâ
âOh LokiâŠâ you hugged him. âNo one blames you⊠you didnât mean it⊠Iâve seen your pretty heart, and you deserve all the love in the world⊠Gosh, if I could take all the pain, youâre feeling for myself, I would.â
âPlease donât say thatâŠâ he begged. He couldnât handle anymore guilt, but he didnât know how to tell you the truth.
You gently guided him to your bedroom and tucked him in your bed, wrapping your arms around him in a protective way.
âForgive me love... Please forgive meâŠâ he begged between mutters. âI take it all back⊠please⊠Please donât hate me⊠pleaseâŠâ
âShhâŠâ you whispered, running your fingers through his hair. âItâs all gonna be okay⊠Iâm always gonna be here for you.â
Between the warm tea, his exhaustion, the previous sleepless nights, your comfortable bed, and your loving touch⊠his body gave up on him and he fell asleep.
Everything was dark, and cold, covered in ice and a cruel wind. Loki had a good tolerance to cold, but he was freezing.
âMonsterâŠâ a voice echoed so loudly it made Lokiâs ears ring. It was his own voice and it came from everywhere around him.
âTraitorous ratâŠâ
âMurdererâŠâ
âBeastâŠâ
âLiarâŠâ
âFrost giantâŠâ
âMonsterâŠâ
âManipulatorâŠâ
âLiarâŠâ
âWe finally had someoneâs trustâŠâ
âOf course, you just play around with others!â
Loki was completely surrounded by copies of himself, all at least twice his size, blue skin, Jotun attire, and eyes red like blood. True frost giants.
Loki simply took every blow and insult. He deserved them.
âLokiâŠ?â a different voice called. âIs this what you meant by inviting someone to your dreams?â
No please⊠you couldnât be here.
âDarling⊠wake up⊠please donât be hereâŠâ Loki begged you. âPleaseâŠâ
âIâm not leaving you here on your ownâŠâ you spoke and kneeled beside him.
Loki felt his body change, every muscle vanished leaving him as practically skin and bones. Small. Weak.
âLoki⊠whatâs going on?! Whatâs happening to you?!â
Loki tried to shapeshift back to his natural look, but he had no control of his own body. At this point in life, he should be desensitized to nightmares where his magic didnât obey him⊠butâŠ
âPlease⊠leave me hereâŠâ he spoke as he could, but he could barely hear himself.
âDonât say that... Whatâs⊠what can I do for you?â
There was something about dreams, and especially Lokiâs dreams, that always seemed to be extra dramatic. It must have been so confusing to be in one as an outsider.
Lokiâs body changed again, he grew twice his usual size, and his body was blue and muscled. Exactly the body of a Jotun.
âSTOP BEING SO GOOD TO ME! CANâT YOU SEE I DONâT LOVE YOU?!â
âWhat?!â
What?! No! That wasnât trueâŠ
Loki tried to take it back, but he was in autopilot. He was in the passenger seat of his own mind.
âI DONâT LOVE YOU! ARE YOU THAT GULLIBE TO THINK IâD FALL IN LOVE WITH A MORTAL?! I HAVE BEEN USING YOU!â
âNo⊠no, you're not⊠You wouldnâtâŠâ
âI JUST NEEDED A COVER, TO SEEM WELL ADJUSTED ENOUGH TO NOT BE A PRISONER! AND YOU WERE ANNOYING ENOUGH TO BARGE IN DEFENSE OF ME! IâV BEEN PLAYING WITH YOU FROM DAY ONE! DONâT YOU SEE YOU ARE JUST A TOY?! YOUâRE PATHETIC!â
The look on your face was heartbreaking. You looked crushed.
âI HAVE BEEN THINKING OF A WAY TO GET RID OF YOU! I CANâT SLEEP AND I WANT TO THROW UP THINKING I HAVE TO PUT UP WITH YOU YET ANOTHER DAY!â
You curled up on the floor and Loki lifted you but your collarâs shirt.
âGET IT INSIDE YOUR HEAD! I COULD NEVER LOVE A MORTAL AS UNNERVING AS YOU!â Loki screamed at you before slamming you against the floor.
âNO!â Loki sat up with a gasp and his body drenched in sweat. He looked around and saw you curled up on the bed, your back facing him. âLove?! Thank goodness⊠Iâm soâ Love, w-whatâs wrongâŠ?â
You were stiff and you had a hand on the back of your head. Loki shifted and stretched a bit and saw your face. Your eyes were full of tears, yet he had never seen you with such a cold expression in your face.
âMy love⊠and whatâs wrong?â Loki placed a hand over your arm, and you slapped it.
âWhy did you say that?â you asked him.
âI d-donât know⊠I wasnât⊠I didnâtâŠâ Loki stuttered. âMy dreams are like thatâŠâ
âNo. I mean, what you said was really specific. WhyâŠ?â
âI donâtâI donât know why Iââ
âTell me the truth, Loki.â You ordered him. âDid you, or did you not pretend to love me for your freedom?â
Loki stayed quiet. He didnât have the courage to tell you the truth, but he didnât have the heart to keep lying to you. With that confirmation tears started falling down your cheeks again.
âY-Yes but Iâthat was beforeâŠâ
âGet outâŠâ you spoke.
âWhat? No, darling, listen⊠IâŠâ
âI donât want to hear you.â
âPlease love⊠let me explainâŠâ he tried holding you.
That made you snap. You started hitting him, being a human it was impossible for you to harm him, but not once in his life had he felt more pain.
âDONâT TOUCH ME! DONâT TALK TO ME!â
âDarling pleaseâŠâ
âI DONâT WANNA SEE YOU EVER AGAIN! GET OUT OF MY ROOM AND GET OUT OF MY LIFE!â
He had no strength to fight you, he was defenseless as you kicked him out of your room, slamming the door on his face.
There were a few faces popping out of their door to try seeing what had happened and that quickly retreated back to their rooms. Loki had no choice but to go inside of his own bedroom.
The next morning, he nearly tripped on his way out with a box by is door. It was full of books, quills, a coat, photos of you together. And⊠the silver bracelet that matched his own. It tore his heart to shreds. He didnât feel as guilty anymore. But remorse and the memory of how brokenhearted you looked was even more sadistic. He heard you crying often from across the wall.
A few days later the others started giving him dirty looks. Knowing you and considering that this didnât happen right away he assumed they had found out after heavy interrogation and now everyone knew he had used you. Even Thor seemed upset, not angry, but he had this⊠disappointment in his eyes.
âI hate dealing with moving companiesâ Tony sighed as they all sat for dinner. âBut Fury wants to have our little Houdini enlisted by the end of the week. Itâs a shame⊠The kiddos enjoyed being around each other.â
âTell me about itâ Clint sighed. âKate is devastated.â
âSpeaking of devastatedâŠâ Natasha said as she stood up, and Loki wouldâve sworn she was shooting daggers at him with that glare. âSee if I can be more convincing about eating something, otherwise Fury will have a corpse enlisting.â
You were moving out? To become a SHIELD agent? But you hated being a soldier. Had he hurt you so bad that you preferred that lifestyle and ruin your life forever⊠than being around him?
This all felt awfully familiar. Loki excused himself and went to his room and lock himself inside. He closed his eyes, and part of him wished that theyâd never open again.
âAm I cursed?â Loki asked, choked up by the last bit of hope.
âNo.â Odin responded the worst thing he could've said him. A curse would've been better.
Loki placed the casket down, weakly, it suddenly felt like a very... very heavy thing to carry. And the weight stayed there, right on his chest even after the casket had been placed back at the pedestal.
âThen what am I?â Loki asked softly, afraid of the answer.
âYou're my son.â Odin answered, and Loki doubted his own magic since he couldn't detect dishonesty in his father's words.
Clearly that was a lie. So why didnât his magic detect that? Loki felt rage spiral out of control like a boiling pot.
âWhat more than that?â Loki growled, still trying to keep his composure as he walked towards his father that was by the stairs at the other side of the corridor. âThe Casket wasn't the only thing you took from Jotunheim that day, was it?â
Odin looked him in the eye. Unable to deny it any longer. It had been to many years with that secret. As Loki walked closer, Odin just started at him in silence as Loki reached the stairs.
âNo.â Odin finally said. âIn the aftermath of the battle, I went into the Temple, and I found a baby. Small for a giant's offspringâ abandoned, suffering, left to die. Laufey's son.â
That felt like a dagger piercing the young princeâs heart. Out of all the things he was insecure about, it turned out he WAS an outsider. Out of all the things he couldâve been, he HAD to be a Jotun, a monster. Out of all the Jotunâs in existence, he was the son of the worst of them all. And out of all the reasons he couldâve been adopted for, was because even his own biological family didnât want him⊠and his adopted family never told him any of this.
âLaufey's son...?â Loki finally managed to gasp out, he was choking up on his own tears. âWhy? You were knee-deep in Jotun blood. Why would you take me?â
âYou were an innocent child.â Odin said, sounding more exhausted by the second.
âNo!â Loki begged his father, knowing that Odin was a strategic warrior. There was always a meaning behind his actions. âYou took me for a purpose, what was it?â
But Odin didnât answer. The physical toll of delaying his Odin sleep to prepare Thor to rule, preventing a war, the emotional toll of having to banish Thor and now⊠having his youngest child doubt his love for him because of his foolish decision of not telling him the truth earlier were overwhelming him.
The All-King saw with pain how the little child that once smiled at him with love when he picked him in his arms after the battle now saw him with fear, pain, and resentment.
âTELL ME!â Loki demanded loudly, no longer capable of remaining calm.
âI thought we could unite our kingdoms one day, bring about an alliance, bring about a permanent peace... through you.â Odin confessed.
That was the final blow to Lokiâs poor heart.
âWhatâŠ?â
A tool. All he had been adopted for was as an instrument of peace between Asgard and a race that everyone saw as blood-thirsty monsters.
âBut those plans no longer matter.â Odin clarified.
âSo, I am no more than another stolen relic, locked up⊠here, until you might have use of me.â Loki inquired in pain.
âWhy do you twist my words?â Odin asked softly.
âYou could have told me what I was from the beginning.â Loki urged, desperate to makes sense of what easily was the worst day of his life. âWhy didn't you?!â
âYou are my son. I wanted only to protect you from the truth.â Odin said softly, in a fruitless attempt to calm his poor childâs heart.
âWhâ B-Because I-I-I am the monster parents tell their children about at night?!â Loki asked, flooded by all the scary stories about the frost giants growing up. All those times he and Thor played heroes as kids fighting those monsters.
âDon't...â Odin begged as his strength slowly abandoned him.
But Loki couldnât listen anymore. The grief was too great, and the feeling of betrayal didnât allow him to trust Odin anymore.
âIt all makes sense now! Why you favored Thor all these years.â Loki yelled as he started walking up the stairs to yell at Odin as the All-Father slowly lost his strength and started passing out on the stairs. âBecause no matter how much you claim to âloveâ me, you could never have a Frost Giant sitting on the Throne of Asgard!â
Odin kept trying until his last second of consciousness to beg his son for help, forgiveness⊠anything. But he had been too weakened to dedicate his young boy some kind of love or reassurance as he fell prey to the Odin sleep, he had delaying for so long.
Now Loki encountered a similar dilemma. He had been stupid, dishonest, and selfish to someone who offered him nothing but unconditional love. He betrayed your trust and there was no way now that Loki could prove that despite his original intentions his love wasnât any less real.
He laid down on his bed, with his arm draped dramatically over his eyes.
âTroubled, my son?â a voice spoke making Loki sit up.
âFatherâ Loki smiled softly. âI ruined it. I had the most beautiful love in my life⊠and I was stupid and lost it because of my own selfishness.â
âThat sounds familiarâ Odin chuckled. âYou truly are my son, after all.â
âYou had always been will always be my fatherâŠâ Loki said the words he had denied for several years. âI never understand your reasons. Cruel as they wereâŠâ
âNot holding back against your old father, hm?â Odin laughed.
âSorryâŠâ Loki smiled softly.
âMy original reasons were foolish, selfish, and even cruel as you rightfully⊠but I always hoped to do what would be best for the 9 Realmsâ he spoke. âBut that didnât mean the love I had for you wasnât any less real. You are my son, regardless of the kind of blood that coursed through your veins.â
Loki smiled softly; it was weird. He knew Odin would have never say all that. But now, after growing up so much, he understood it wasnât because he didnât feel it, he had always been too proud and formal, too much of a king. And while imperfect, it was still his father.
âThatâs why you never caught me lying when I called you my son or said that I loved you.â Odin spoke. âIn my heart, youâve always been my son.â
âI know, fatherâ Loki smiled. âIâm sorry it took me so long to understand it.â
âIâm sorry I never told you before⊠I feared you wouldnât take it wellâŠâ
âMe? I would neverâ Loki joked softly.
âWe always loved you as our ownâ a female voice added making Loki turned around.
âMother.â Loki spoke breathless. âI know⊠I know⊠I knew, I was just too scared I couldâve been wrong, and you didnâtâŠâ
âYou were too much of a charming kid not to love youâ Frigga said compassionately. âYour little human surely thinks so too.â
Ah⊠that⊠Loki wasnât so sure.
âI ruined it, I deserve nothing but the hatred and disgust Iâve earned from my darling.â Loki huffed out. âI manipulated, lied, and destroyed the trust of my love.â
âDear, thereâs nothing final in these mattersâŠâ Frigga smiled softly. âIf that loved blossomed once, you may rescue it and nourish it again. But first⊠you need to apologize.â
âI donât think Iâm wanted anywhere near hearing range.â Loki explained.
âDo you think the love between your mother, and I always had a perfect relationship?â Odin smiled.
âYour father was too temperamental for thatâ Frigga intervened with a smile and both parents looked at each other with love. âBut when you truly love someone and you make a mistake, you swallow your pride and make up for your wrongdoings.â
Loki smiled softly, he remembered it well. When Odinâs temper got the best of him because of the stress of being a king, Odin made sure to make up for Frigga know how truly sorry he was, and Frigga who already knew her husbandâs temper was an expert on not letting her affect her, knowing it was never personal. She had truly been blessed with infinite patience given she dealt with three men with bad tempers and yet her kindness and loving nature knew no end. It was not rare to see Odin gifting Frigga fancy gifts and spend long hours apologizing and dedicating the day to her. It wasnât the perfect arrangement, but no relationship was.
Loki chuckled softly.
âThanksâŠâ he smiled and both parents tended a hand to him with a smile. âI know what I have to do.â
Ready to say goodbye, Loki placed his hands on top of Odin and Friggaâs, and with that, the figure of his parents faded under a green light as Lokiâs palms stopped glowing. Loki let out a little laugh as he wiped his tears.
His illusions had never been so benevolent towards himself, they were either torturous or for a fake sense of gloating and dissociation. But your compassion had changed him forever. He could use them for closure and to guide him with the stuff he knew but needed to hear. And⊠you deserved that at least.
He got up and went outside and went to a trip. It took him around an hour to get to the city and a couple more hours to get his several stops get several gifts. A lovely white bouquet of flowers, a box of your favorite chocolates, a necklace with a cute silver heart shaped locket and got it printed with a small photo, a copy of a photo he had carried from one of your first âdatesâ you got where you were giving him a small kiss in the cheek and cupped the other one, a symbol of your shared love.
On his way back, Loki held the original photo close to his chest and sighed. He prayed this would work as he was on his way to see you. He knocked on your door and hid his gifts behind himself, not even remembering he couldâve concealed them with his magic from how nervous he was.
His chest tightened as you opened the door, your eyes and nose were red, and your cheeks were stained with tears. Oh Norns⊠He had hurt you really bad.
âLove⊠Please⊠let me explainâ Loki spoke softly.
âWhat do you need to explain, Loki?â you asked and sniffled, practically murdering him when you called him Loki instead of one of your lovely cheesy pet names. âThat I was just a toy for you to play with and pretend that you loved me, so youâd be a free man? I got that quite clearly.â
You were ready to slam the door on his face, but he reached his leg to stop you. He nearly dropped one of your gifts. You looked at him confused, eying him up and down before sighing in defeat, opening the door he walked inside of your little room. He saw the little night table covered with used tissues and the bedâs decorative cushions were all over the place. It broke his heart.
âWhat do you want, Loki?â you asked tiredly as you sat on the bed, placing a cushion on your lap and against your chest.
âMy darling, I was the biggest, most cruel and inconsiderate imbecile of all 9 Realmsâ he said, kneeling before you as he handed you the bouquet of flowers. You gently placed the flowers on your lap, still looking at him.
âIt is true, that I was looking to just find a relationship to pretend I had adapted to living on earthâ he spoke. âIt was a selfish, shallow, and dishonest reason to make you mine⊠But I did it. It was heartless and thereâs no excuse or reason for you to forgive that. But I beg of you to stay here⊠never speak to me again if you need, but donât settle to a life of misery just to avoid me. I will happily accept being locked up in a dungeon for a hundred years, so you donât see the likes of me againâŠâ
He handed you the chocolate, and your gaze softened for a second as you saw the chocolate, he remembered which ones you liked the most. You opened your mouth to speak, but a gentle squeeze to your hands let you know Loki still wanted to speak.
He had caused all of this for not telling you the truth, and now he wanted to fully bare his soul to you now.
âYou offered me boundless kindness, patience despite my flaws, understanding to my pain and sins of the past, laughter like I hadnât enjoyed before, you fed with the most delicious and warm foods I had ever eaten, you showed me the concept of dates and you bared me completely vulnerable to your touch and heart and you bared yourself completely to me without fear of meâŠâ Loki continued, as tears streamed down his face, drowning in regret. âAnd all I did was play with you and betray the trust your selfless heart gave me without asking for anything in return.â
He placed his forehead on your knees and sobbed, completely ashamed of what he had done to you. He didnât deserve your forgiveness, but he felt like heâd die without you. And heâ deserve it.
âI donât careâ you finally spoke, and he looked up, he saw the tears streaming down your face. âYouâre the God of Mischief and Lies, there are countless stories of how you lied and manipulated to get away with anything you wanted⊠I shouldâve expected Iâd be just that.â
âNoâ No, darling!â Loki held your hands and pressed his lips against your knuckles. âNo, my sweet, youâ I was selfish. I wanted a cover up, yes, but what I found was love, I found the butterflies in my stomach you always speak of. I found the warm of your hands lingering on my skin after our dates. I found myself awake during the night sighing over those lovely eyes Iâve now so cruelly filled with tearsâŠâ Loki spoke softly.
You were shaking in your place as you did your best not to cry and interrupt him. He brushed his finger along your cheek as in appreciation of your effort.
âNone of what you heard that night was true in my heartâŠâ he assured you âI never felt so disgusted I wanted to vomit; it was guilt that was killing me from the inside⊠knowing I was hurting such a beautiful flower.â
He handed you the heart locket and you opened it, seeing the photo made you sob as silently as you could.
âI was selfish and a liar. I donât blame you if you donât believe me and want nothing to do with me again. But please know that my heart beats for and because of you only.â He spoke. âI fell hopelessly and irredeemably in love with you. I swear that on my life.â
You looked at him and smiled, as you wrapped your arms around his neck and sobbed now freely and unrestrained. Time seemed to stop for Loki as he hugged you back, taking in your scent and caressing you. Tears fell down his face and he held you, afraid youâd disappear if he let go of you.
You forgave him. He didnât think heâd ever be so lucky to find a kind soul that would forgive even his worst mistake. But he found it, you were kind enough to do so. Your wrapped your arms around him in a warm hug and Loki was able to let all the pain and guilt go⊠He couldnât undo his mistakes, but he could be better, and he wanted to be his best self for you.
âThank you⊠Norns, Iâm sorry⊠Iâm so sorryâŠâ he repeated over and over between whispers and tears as he held you tight.
You sat up straight and cupped his face and laughed softly as you still cried happy tears.
âYouâre gonna have to buy me a new box of tissues, you boogerâ you joked softly with a sniffle, and pressed your forehead to his and grabbed a tissue to blow your nose.
âIâll give you the entire world if you so desire, my loveâ he spoke with a gentle smile. âJust say the word.â
âI donât need the worldâ you smiled and kissed his cheek. âI have everything I need right here.â
âWhat did I do to deserve you?â he chuckled softly as he grabbed a tissue to wipe his tears and blow his nose. âIâm a disaster and somehow I still found the most precious little dove all for myself.â
You held him tightly in a hug⊠in silence for a few minutes before you spoke again.
âDid you think I was annoying when we first met?â you asked with a stern look on your face. âI want the truth.â
âTruthfully⊠you were a nightmareâŠâ Loki admitted in a soft playful tone.
âHEY!â you whined and dug your fingers into the crevices of his ribs making him burst out laughing. âI said honest, not mean!â
âEhehehe! Lohohohohove, let me finish!â he giggled, letting you have this, it was the least he could do. âP-Please, s-stohohohop that! Not there!â
You smiled and went to tickle his belly. Oh, you had really not liked that.
âPlehehehehehease, dahahaharling! I surrender!â he laughed and did his best to not squirm.
âFine⊠what is it?â you asked, as you sat sideways on his lap, already happily cuddling with him.
Thank whatever superior force that was out there⊠Oh, youâre a wonderful blessing.
âYouâre a nightmare turned into a dreamâ he clarified and he didnât even bother fighting the urge to squeeze you tightly.
âYou have 3 seconds to explain how thatâs a compliment o Iâll tickle you until you puncture a lung.â
âIhihiâ I mean like, when you start having a bad dream⊠but it turns around as the most wonderful of dreams, those that you still think about after waking up.â Loki said, and as those words he was sure he had fried his brain because he didnât make any sense.
But that was enough for you.
âYouâre lucky youâre cute.â You grumbled.
âCâmon⊠donât be mad at me for being foolish and wrongâ he smiled as he squeezed you tight. âSurely you thought I was insufferable at first as well, weâre so different after all.â
You smiled and shook your head.
âI love my pretty princeâ you smiled and picked a tissue yourself to clean your face. âFlaws, differences, and all.â
âDo you, now?â he grinned cheekily. âI sure am a lucky one to be called yours.â
âA Loki oneâ you giggled, and Loki made a scowl of disgust. âSorry! I thought it too late when I said it andâ hehehe!â
âOh, that was awfulâ Câmere⊠you!â
âW-What?! NO! NOHOHOHOHO! LOHOHOHOKI, STOP IHIHIHIT!â
As he made you laugh and held you against him, he couldnât doubt how fortunate he was to be so undoubtedly yours.

Mid-Story Lines
I was tagged by my love @greattemptation in this game! (check hers out here). Here's a list of mid-story lines from 10 of my fics, all published. (I know others have done WIPs but I'm just doing published stuff bc the only WIP I have rn is for an anon fest.) I'm tagging some greats here; sorry if yall have already done it and I didn't see: @getawayfox @beloved-child-of-the-house @academicdisasterfic @moonflower-rose
(Because I'm nothing if not self-indulgent, I included a little commentary about each of the fics below. Also, to absolutely no one's shock, I'm starting with my favorite child, TIMT. )
this is me trying
âWhy?â Malfoy said, his voice breathy but forceful. âWhy me? Why arenât you turning to Granger or Weasley or Longbottom orâŠliterally anyone else?â
âI donât know,â Harry nearly whispered. âI didnât mean to go looking for you, the first day I went to the diner. I really was just stopping in for food. But then I saw you, working and trying and getting along with Muggles, and I just,â he swallowed around a lump in his throat. âI think that maybe if I talked to you I could see how you did it.â
âHow I did what?â
Harry drew in a lungful of air and expelled it in a drawn-out breath. "Figured out the difference between who you were supposed to be, and who you really are.â
Just Take Me Home
Beep....Beep....Beep....Beep...
That damned smoke detector's out of batteries, was Harry's first semi-conscious thought. Then his next one made his eyes snap open. I don't have a smoke detector.
I Could Never Rescue You
I fell asleep, tossing and turning alone in bed, and now I wake to find you next to me. The sight is usually a comfort, but now it only fills me with irritation. You must have arrived home late without a word.
Again.
Speak Now
Knowing youâll never see this, combined with the firewhiskeyâs satisfying burn in my throat to lubricate my thoughts, I feel safe in admitting that you are glorious in a duel. You look so determined, so powerful, and yet so controlled and deliberate. Your eyes gleam and you exude strength and Merlin if it isnât beautiful. The only benefit to being your one-time enemy was getting to see you like that, being one of the few people to experience the force that is Harry Potter.
Just Between Us
Draco shook his head. âHow youâve lasted through years of Ministry galas without humiliation is beyond me.â
âEasy. I donât dance.â
âWhy?â
Harry shrugged. âI never learned.â
Draco stepped forward. âI can teach you, if you want.â
Little Red
âSo which poor sods are you assigning to the case?â Ron said with a smirk.
Kingsley pressed his lips together and said nothing, looking at the two of them with sympathy.   Â
Harryâs face fell. âYou canât be serious.â
I'm Beginning to See the Light (an Eight Drarry Nights Story)
Draco holds up a hand. âPotter. Itâs fine. Youâre right. Letâs go to the Muggle store.â
Harry blinks. Then tries, and fails, to suppress his smile. âWhat was that? I didnât quite hear.â
Draco rolls his eyes. âIâm not saying it again.â He walks out of the room and calls over his shoulder, âBut nice try!â
The Door
âHarry, darling, Iâm with Father and heâs having trouble coming to terms with our relationship. Do you mind saying a quick âHelloâ to prove to him that Iâm not trying to shock him into an early death just so I can take the piss?â
Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince
âItâs Harry.â
âOh, really? I didnât know it was that complicatedââ
Potter laughed again. âThe situation isnât hairy, you dolt. Call me Harry.â
Call It What You Want
Potter let out a laugh. âOkay, well just put your food here on this turntable,â he pressed something that made the little door pop open, and Draco jumped slightly. âThen you just press the buttons to tell it how long you want it to cook, press the âstartâ button and then itâll go until itâs finished.â
Draco nodded. âThat makes sense.â
Potterâs eyes lit up. âIt does?â
âYes, I understand.âÂ
 âGreat!â
âJust one question.â
âGo ahead.â
âWhatâs a button?â
Okay I included my commentary that no one asked for.
TIMT: My favorite child, as I said. appears on just about every list I make of my fics, if I can help it.
JTMH: Of all the things I've written, this is one of the ones that has made me laugh the most.
ICNRY: Maybe one of my favorite things I've written in a long time, despite being wildly different from my usual. Mind the tags!!!
Speak Now: Epistolary fics are the FUNNEST and I loved writing Draco here.
Just Between Us: Oh my godddd the stress of writing this fic. It paid off, I think (hope), but I put way too much pressure on myself.
Little Red: Again, very different from my norm. I'm proud of it for that reason, but I feel I could write it soooo much better now.
IBTSTL: This was my first real WIP that I updated regularly, and it was so much fun to have regular commenters and get people's feedback in real time!
The Door: One of my first fics. Not my typical fic but it was a great way to explore Draco, especially as a new writer.
MAATHP: The first fic to stress me out lol. For my Swifties, this came out more than a year before "The Great War," or else this would've absolutely been the fic for Midnights.
CIWYW: Another early idea. The "What's a button" part still makes me laugh.
#drarry#harry potter#draco malfoy#tag game#if you read all that AND my commentary i adore you#but if you didnt i do not blame you lmao#also omg sorry Lid I should've seen that you were tagged in the same post I was tagged in...#adhd 1...my readimg comp skills 0

Long ask incoming, cuz I finally have the brain to put this makanolan idea into words (warning for blood and near death experiences):
Andrei dies. At least that's what Makarov thinks, since he was there when the shard of stray shrapnel tears into his second's throat. He was there as what had been a perfectly planned mission suddenly starts spinning wildly out of control, and now he's got hands wrapped around Andrei's throat and the blood is soaking through his gloves.
Andrei was still fighting for breath when he was forced to leave him or risk capture and all his plans falling apart. Makarov stayed long enough to haphazardly use the man's own belt to try to do something to save him, then press a kiss to his forehead, then give him permission to die.
Years pass. A few, at least. Konni group continues Makarov's plans, but it's... different. Milena has to remain more distant, since 141 got to her last time, and he never trusts another officer the way he did Andrei. He never thought his plans would make him feel... lonely.
Meanwhile, Andrei isn't dead. He doesn't remember how he ended up in custody of the SAS, nor does he know how he managed to disobey his commander's last order and stayed alive after his throat had been torn open. At least he can't give up information as easily anymore. Shredded vocal chords make talking difficult.
But uhhhh yeah. Suddenly 141 has an interesting bargaining chip in their hands to get back at Makarov. They found security camera footage at the weapons factory where they'd found Andrei, so they know he means something to Makarov.
The question is, what is he willing to sacrifice to have his most loyal soldier back at his side? Is he willing to take a deal? Much to have fun with......
Dude. I am tired as hell but when I tell you I literally sat up straight after reading this. I'm SO buzzed rn. This would be so, so good as a long fic but alas all you'll get is my ramblings so. jdjfjf
It's beautiful man. You know Andrei's death would be so heartbreaking, Makarov personally witnessing it. Tries to save him, hold out as much as he can, but in the end he and his plans come first, and he must leave. Maybe it's his efforts that kept Nolan alive, maybe every second counted. But either way, Makarov doesn't know that, and to him, his second in command died right in his hands. Maybe he watched the light leave his eyes, when it was just Andrei passing out from exhaustion and blood loss, maybe Makarov already accepted it. Kissed him goodbye and left him there. That shit would haunt him forever if you believe he even slightly cares about Nolan. (which I do) Makarov watching helplessly as Nolan chokes on his own blood, his hands being soaked with his partners blood...
What's even worse, would be when Makarov finds it out. He's been lonely all these years, right? Accepted Nolan's death. Never trusted anyone again. What he had with Nolan was real, men like him are so rare. Devotion and loyalty like his, it's never to be found again. Makarov mourns his death every single day, he keeps going but the dull ache remains. Even a man as cold as him would mourn such a loss, I think. It's Andrei. The closest man to him, the man he trusted and loved the most. So imagine, after all those years, the moment he learns Andrei is actually alive.
Alive, but at the hands of his enemies. Imagine the shock, the anger, the heartbreak. I honestly can't predict how it would go, what he would do.
He'd be relieved at first, what do you mean he's alive? Then the questions would come flooding in. Is he okay? How'd he survive? What'd they do to him... Then anger, because he probably got the message from 141. They have Andrei, again, he'd be enraged. Then doubt would creep in. It's been so long, what if they got to him? What if Andrei is on their side, what if he's brainwashed? And there's no way to know it, is there?
Maybe he sets up a rescue operation, doesn't care about the cost. Milena tries talking him out of it, as his only remaining "friend" (she hasn't been, since long), Makarov pulls a gun on her. I doubt he'd be thinking straight. Milena tells her it's too much on the line, it's not worth it, Nolan has been dead for years. Even if he's back, he wouldn't be the same. I think this option only works if you consider Makarov has a soft spot for Nolan.
Maybe he agrees with 141 for a deal. Just to see what is up. Makarov swears this is the last time they'll see 141, sets up everything perfectly, everyone is to die except Nolan. If they manage to capture him, great, but if they sense something is wrong they are going to shoot Nolan only on Makarov's orders. I doubt Makarov would go for killing him since he has many questions, but just in case.
It's a whole emotional clusterfuck, man. Would be hard on Nolan too. Imagine the guilt of failing his commander for the second time, "disobeying his commanders last order by staying alive". He'd wish he was dead instead. I fully believe he wouldn't break no matter what 141 tries on him, but even he would change after so many years. I don't know. Maybe he plans an escape, endures everything, plays into their tricks, makes them think he's one of them... idk. He's smart enough to pull it off, but with his throat, things would be different. All I know is that he's being eaten alive by guilt every waking moment.
Price walks in on him trying to hang himself with the shredded sheets and it takes Price and two other soldiers to calm him down. He'd be a mess, I don't know. I think at the end of the day Andrei would stay as a prisoner, rather than an ally, because he is not to be trusted. Not around guns, not around them, precious information and whatnot. He's too loyal.
Their reunion would be... something for sure. I can't tell how it'd go. If Makarov would be happy to have him back or not, or if Andrei is even fit to fight anymore. You never know, Makarov could do anything. đ
Sorry this got away from me, but yeah, good thoughts brother... I love it. Thank you for sharing it with me. I'll definitely think upon it, a lot. đđ

I'm so invested in that damn demonic showdown poll rn,
i dont care if mammon loses to one of his brothers in the final i NEED to take this puppet down and he's losing right now :(
Reasons to vote for Mammon?
âą Let him avenge Barbatos and Lucifer!
âą He's so fucking kind - as noted by both Levi and MC - even to the point of doing something to help a stranger who was trying to hurt him
âą He's MC's best friend and partner in crime and is always on their side, even if that means standing against a pissed off Lucifer, whom he is canonically scared of
âą He looks so good during his photoshoots because when he looks at the camera he's imagining he's looking at MC
âą He's so good with kids! He's got a little daughter of his own, he stopped a lost kid from crying and helped them find their family, when Luke accidentally gave him a cursed item for his birthday he kept said item and refused to break it despite the fact that it would make him eventually lose a lot of money
âą He saved MC when they were getting sexually harassed on the street
âą He's good with engineering, mechanics
âą He, quite confidently, mixed up the words for "hospitality" and "hospital"
âą Insanely ride or die for both MC and Lucifer
âą The house gets quiet and depressing when he runs away
âą He gets weirded out by people treating him nicely because he rarely gets treated that way
âą Talks to crows!!!
âą Cries during animal documentaries!!!
âą Gets upset because Cinderalla is treated badly by her family!!!
âą He cares about MC's consent so much!
âą Levi always comes to him when he needs genuine advice or help
âą Very good with giving little speaches to reassure the others
âą Doesn't know what rent is!!!
âą Canonically so pretty
âą Said he doesn't care if he has to wear masculine or feminine clothes as long as he looks badass!
âą Canonically so pretty while cross dressing!!!
âą Avatar of Greed but he constantly puts his loved ones (including his brother and Luke) over things of monetary value
âą His first instinct when it comes down to it is to rescue the bank teller not the money
âą His self esteem is so bad he needs the win. He literally thinks he's nothing and useless on his own
âą Friends with jason voorhees!!!!
âą Brings late night snacks to MC and his big brother when they're up working late
âą Coos and uses baby voices with cats
âą Held MC's dying body while crying/calling their name
âą Is a demon who's scared of ghosts!!!!!! Because he once got possessed by the ghost of ADAM FROM THE BIBLE
âą Pretty white Demon markings
âą Canonically queer icon
âą Was the push for me to finally go and get a proper diagnosis therefore - ADHD ICON
âą I WILL WRITE THE REST OF THIS FIC AND POST IT

hiiii! I saw that previous anon post about the rescue bot's battle struggles and was inspired to try and shoot my shot (if i'm coming off as too "intense" then feel free to ignore this im just a little crazy rn) but I'm also currently writing a fic as well which is kinda like my take on an sg universe but with so much sappy redemption because I like that stuff and I wanted to get your opinion/headcanon on this topic because I really like your writing style and lore dumps and takes on the rescue bots characterization. What do you think their obsession/desire would be? Like you said in your previous post of Boulder being a pacifist, I have him down as someone who wants peace and safety for others but in a more twisted way of being overprotective and punishing towards people who are mean or violent and for Heatwave I have him as someone who obsesses over strength and bravery, the display of and actions depicting heroism and the likes. My current issue is that I can't think of anything for Blades and I know in the show he's very skittery and frantic, kinda worrisome and perpetually anxious, so I'm translating that as a sort of savior complex style "the only thing to fear is fear itself", where he's very protective even more so than Boulder but in like a fanatic manner.
OKAY IM SO EXCITED YOU ASKED THIS!!!!
okay so me and @fishleeks discussed something like this at length a couple months ago so I'm using our notes for an au I was planning on introducing but never got around to lol. maybe I'll play with it some more after this
my original idea was just a personality swap from like a doc greene machine but a shattered glass type situation works just fine, I don't have any notes for the burns (I found the situations funnier if just the bots were affected) but okay here we go:
The rescue bots are clearly a little family of some sort, or at least obviously a bunch of guys that live together. The biggest thing that draws them together is their loyalty- these guys are devoted to each other and Griffin Rock and the Burns. If we do a straight opposite day dynamic it basically turns them all into backstabbers who don't give a shit and honestly I find that boring! The loyalty aspect is especially interesting when it's a band of assholes who by all accounts should hate each other but work together well and care in a weird twisted fucked up toxic way, now that is INTERESTING!!! Love me some toxic dynamics... just a bunch of guys who are better inflicted on each other than anyone else, I guess!
Now I'll do one at a time with my interpretation:
BOULDER:
Before: very sweet, mild mannered, pacifistic, curious and mellow.
After: neurotic freak who is disgusted by everything that touches them and very loud about it. Has screamed "I HATE THIS PLANET!!!" sixteen times in the last hour.
Why?: I just want to say I'm obsessed with your idea of twisting Boulder's pacifism into an obsession with strength. I would say it fully depends on the way you're doing the swap: because if you're doing a straight swap, Boulder's pacifism and wanting to keep everyone safe turns into a disdain for mechs and people alike (especially people... nasty organics, lol) and not caring who gets hurt- they would turn extremely selfish. However, if we are going with the equally interesting good traits gone bad, I imagine Boulder's going to turn into something that resembles Shockwave a little. Curiosity and pacifism turns into "I have to know, I have to protect, no matter the cost." And of course... hurts everyone in the process. Becoming the very thing you swore to destroy... hurting the very ones you swore to protect... delicious I love it. But also, if you do a mix of both, Boulder is disgusted by the planet and feels the need to protect the Rescue Bots from it and single-handedly becomes the greatest threat to Earth's environment immediately.
HEATWAVE:
Before: Hot-headed, stubborn, fiercely fights for what he believes in and to protect the ones he cares about.
After: Meek doesn't even begin to cover it. If he speaks you can barely hear what he's saying, usually on the edge of tears, folds like a lawn chair under the slightest amount of pressure. Usually hiding behind Chase or Blades, usually Chase (as he isn't as mean- but the bar is in Hell.)
Why?: Okay so addressing your point about Heatwave obsessing over strength and bravery again I think that falls more into good traits gone bad than a shattered glass type swap. Not a bad thing of course- Heatwave is my favorite so I like to humble him (sorry!) but taking his bravado and flipping it inside out leaves him an anxious and insecure mess (he and Blades are such interesting opposites of each other that when swapped they almost turn into the bastardized versions of each other... I'll go over it again in Blades' section but it is an interesting little thing we noticed and I love them). But yes, I think his obsession with needing to protect as well as the image he holds as the strong leader of the team can quickly get out of control, as he could easily turn controlling and possessive. Any word against him could be reason for violence (we all know he's got that impressive temper) and while he's convincing himself he's "protecting" his team he's really their biggest threat. Awful I love it
BLADES:
Before: Sassy, but extremely anxious, likes to have fun and share that with people.
After: Angry all the goddamn time- far too angry to be tactful or clever with his insults. Usually screaming at everyone to shut the fuck up and has zero impulse control
Why?: Yeah so Blades basically turns into the nightmare version of Heatwave. This is not really important but I love thinking about the ways he and Heatwave interact- usually it's Blades stepping behind Heatwave while Heatwave defends him, but in the bizzarro dynamic it's more like Blades begrudgingly letting Heatwave cling to him while at the same time screaming at him and attempting to goad him into a fight (you just know he loves causing problems). Okay but onto the actual analysis! In a good traits gone bad scenario, I think Blades' obsession would be with self protection and staying safe. I think his anxiety and insecurities and penchant for letting someone else start a fight spirals out of control into complete selfishness where he starts avoiding fights and conflict all together, and then mechs, and then you never even see the guy. Most likely, he's going to stop talking- can't avoid conflict if you don't do anything to start it. I imagine he's just going to recess until he's practically a shell of a mech, too terrified to do anything that could get him in trouble that he ends up doing literally nothing but standing there motionless looking at the ground. Or, in the worst possible mixture of the two, Blades is a raging asshole who is too scared to fight so he forces everyone else to do everything for him.
CHASE:
Before: Polite, very conscious of the law, respectful but never hesitates to stand up for what he believes is right.
After: Compulsive liar and kleptomaniac. Is always sporting an insincere grin that's lowkey really creepy and absolutely loves to scheme (he and Blades set mean pranks).
Why?: Okay so we were thinking a bizzarro Chase would have an even deeper understanding of the law, just so he's way better at exploiting loopholes and breaking it. But a good traits gone bad Chase I think would go in a similar way as Heatwave, desperate for control. But it's also established that Chase desperately needs to be useful and his worst nightmare is having nothing to do. In tandem with a Heatwave that prevents him from doing anything, I imagine Chase starts causing problems on purpose just to do something. 100% he starts lashing out- and as for his obsession/desperation, make that need to be useful and dial it up to 1000%. He's doing everything. He's solving problems before they start and actively causing new ones. Oh Blades Boulder complained about your video games being loud so I took the liberty of disposing of them. But in the wrong receptacle so I have an excuse to completely remake the recycling plant as more efficient. Stop crying it's not that deep.
----------------------------
Okay probably way more than you asked for and I did my best to answer your question but everything very quickly got out of hand lol. I love these idiots so goddamn much
#I HAVE. SO MANY THOUGHTS#I need to draw the personality swap âepisodeâ more I find it more funny than anything#maccadam#transformers#transformers rescue bots#tfrb boulder#tfrb heatwave#tfrb blades#tfrb chase#thanks for the ask!!#woosh answers#headcanons#shattered glass#long post#my ass lore dumping because it's my favorite thing#can you tell. can you tell I love them

Hii!
Could you please do Aaron Warner x reader dating post? cause I live for that man.
ï»ż
Aaron warner x gn!reader
warnings: ooc!Aaron (?), I changed the timeline and a tiny bit of the plot from unravel me, my poor attempt at writing anything besides headcanon, cringe writing, mention of being drugged, being shot, curse words
word count: 1.6k +
notes to the reader: reader's gift is to make people believe and do everything they say. reader has been at omega point since their childhood and is best friends with kenji. reader wears a dress
other notes to the fic: Juliette and Aaron are just friends (well still kind of enemies, but Aaron's main focus from bringing her to the reestablishment was to help his mom, instead of rescuing her bc he was in love with her), a/n: I am SO sorry that this took so long, I'm currently trying to work on my request before I open them again but I just don't have that much motivation to write rnđ, I hope you still like it:)), my first language isn't English so please respect that, I tried to write something different from what I normally do...
Masterlist

you two met when he was taken by omega point
after he was allowed outside of his room, and castle made sure that Aaron wouldn't destroy any more furniture, he kept seeing you on his daily walks with castle and began asking questions about you
"what's their name" Aaron looked focused, directing his question to the person joining him on his walk. Castle waited a few seconds before answering Aaron's question: "y/n, their gift is to make people believe and do everything they say" Aaron gave you another intense look before turning his attention to castle again and nodding, to signalize that he understood him.
after that he kept noticing you and eventually agreed to eat dinner with the others, just so he could sit at the same table as you and listen to your conversations with Kenji
you had been friends with Kenji for as long as you could remember, so you always sat at the same table, different friends of yours joining you both, be it Ian, Brendan, lily or the brand new members Adam, James or Juliette, with whom Kenji was especially close
but when the new omega point member, the infamous Aaron Warner joins you both you of course notice him
you also didn't miss the glances he kept sending you
so when castle, who also didn't miss the glances, asked you to train him you rushed to say yes because you just couldn't believe that a person could be so pure evil like Adam pointed him out to be
yes, he let someone tortured your best friend (which you still were pretty pissed about) but you believed that there could be something nice in him and assumed that he was under much stress due to his father, who you haven't heard a single nice thing about
his first training session was on an Tuesday afternoon, to which he arrived exactly on time and in perfect clothing, as if he somehow found a way to iron it
you started with some simple tasks to try to find out what exactly his power is and why he is immune to Juliettes touch
around three sessions later you come to then training session in your prettiest dress that you normally safe for special occasions
aaron, he demanded that you call him by his first name, immediately had one of his rare smiles spread out on his face when he saw you in that dress
he kept asking you to do a twirl so he could see the whole dress but you refused at first
it wasn't until he came closer to you, held your hands carefully in his and asked like a little puppy "please to a twirl for me, my beloved" that you made one with a shocked face
when he saw your expression he rushed to stop you and asked panicked if everything was alright
you told him that he just practiced your gift and couldn't do anything but do a twirl
after that both of you quickly figured out that his gift was to practice other peoples powers and copy them
the night after you are me in his room, trying to work on his powers
you do that until you notice him staring at you
"what's wrong Aaron?" you ask, looking concernt at the boy. you notice that he isn't smiling or grinning a bit like he normally does when you say his name. "my beloved, I- I'll have to leave in the morning. My father can't suspect that I'm here or where exactly omega point is, he'll know soon if i stay longer. I can't put you at this risk." You were shocked to say the least. "Aaron you can't- how would you even do that? Do you even know the way out?" "I wasn't really unconscious when I was brought here, you know? And I found a way to navigate myself around here in the last two months." He looks at your shocked face before adding: "But don't worry, I won't tell my dad or someone else about anything here. I'll hope that you'll miss me the same amount that I will miss you. I hope we will see each other soon again"
He doesn't let you protest any further, gives your hand a gentleman-like kiss and leaves
you had absolutely no idea where he went to, it was his room that you spent your time just mere minutes ago in, after all
still in shock you don't even think about following him, the only thought in your head being that he would be gone tomorrow and will probably spent his time with his pathetic excuse of an father
You don't even think about telling castle or someone else at omega point about Aaron leaving, and at the morning of the very next day you find out that he succeeded
days pass until each member from the rescuing mission of Brendan and Winston, who where both kidnapped my Aaron's psycho dad, Anderson, were ready and prepared to start the mission
the mission seemed to go well until you saw the bombs falling from the sky directly on the place where omega point was located
you were in shock and didn't notice the arms grabbing you and dragging you into a tank
you'd been handcuffed and your eyes were covered with a cloth
there was a voice saying something but you didn't catch was it was saying
someone forced a liquid down your throat and you soon passed out after that
the first thing that you noticed was the warm light
you sat in a kitchen chair but soon noticed that a person, who you assumed to be Anderson, Aaron's dad, because of the obvious resembles, joined you
shit
you didn't catch everything he was saying because you were still feeling dizzy from the drug you were forced to consume, something about revenge, the stupidness of his son (who apparently had joined you two), leading and shooting someone
you soon found out that with someone they meant you, when you were shot in the chest
right into your heart
being shot and drugged at the same day wasn't a nice feeling
you were bleeding and if it didn't stop soon you'd be dead in a few minutes
and if that would happen you couldn't exactly tell because you passed out
for the second time today
it was a shock, to say nicely, when you woke up next to Aaron
he immediately asked you if you were okay but you just stared at him
"I- What the fuck happened?" "my father he- he wanted to 'teach me a lesson'. I'm sorry, my beloved. If I never would've asked him to spare your life he wouldn't have tried to kill you or make me try to kill you." he rambled, trying to explain the earlier actions. But one question was still lingering in your head: "why exactly would you have asked him to spare my life?" He could've carered so much more about someone else's life than yours. Juliettes or maybe James. Besides his constant dining you were sure that he cared at least a bit for them. "Because I care for you, my beloved." You don't know what to say after this confession and just look at him and take his hand into yours.
that's how you met<33 sorry, I got carried away
anyway
that man SPOILS you
you see a pretty flower at the market? It's yours. There is a new collectors edition of your favorite book, but it's out of your price range right now? It's on your desk the next day. The limited edition vinyl that just restocked? already ordered, you get the deal
despite everything he says he actually loves dogs and you'll get one when everything with the reestablishment is over
he'll always pick out fancy colars for the dog and style it<3
he definitely has a fashion blog and posts his daily outfits on there
he'll also pick out your outfit everyday and he always tries for you two to match
every time you go shopping with Juliette and/or Kenji he insists on tagging along so you don't chose some ridiculous clothing items that would wash you out or something
he's obsessed with coffee after delalieu introduced him to it
and when you already like coffee you two have this ritual that every Sunday you guys drink a cup coffee on your balcony and just enjoy the early morning
but if you don't like coffee he always tries to get you into it and 'accidentally' places an extra cup on the breakfast table
"i promise my beloved, it's really good you just have to try it for once"
his love languages are words of affirmations and physical touch
he can't go longer than five minutes without touching you
he always has his hand rested on your lower back or holds your hand because your touch comforts and relaxes him<33
also loves to hold your pinkies
he may not look like it but he LOVES cuddling
you can't sleep anymore without you normally grumpy boyfriend squeezing you like his life depended on it
he also loves to rest his head on your belly before sleeping, while you both read something
he's so mesmerized by your presence
he tells you at least ten times a day how gorgeous, smart or lovely you are
you could literally just walk to the kitchen to get a snack and he'd drop everything to tell you how much he loves you
at the beginning of your relationship he was way more open than you expected with his feelings and already told you one month in the relationship that he loved you
I don't know why but I think he'd write you poems frequently

absolutely in fucking love with @scarlettohairdye 's name for mianmian's husband, it just Fits in a sort of mouth feel and brain clicky way. however I cannot for the life of me find anywhere on the internet where scarlett mentions what characters are used in his name so I went hunting for the most likely suspects. there are approximately a million different ways to write fan wenxin, including two common surnames and one that has to do with trading/merchant-ship, but this one made me laugh and also just Feels Right
ćĄæž©éŠš
(fĂĄn wÄn xÄ«n)
google will tell you this means "where warmth" but Google is a liar and my actual Chinese English dictionary written by actual Chinese people says it means "common/ordinary/mundane comfort" (if you are also actually chinese and this is wrong please dm me)
but I do think "common comfort" is an amazing name for a non-cultivator who's just a stable presence supporting his wife
I'm also working on a list right now of English names for mdzs characters, for me to reference if I ever write a fic where they need to use them (somewhat likely, writing fic is hit or miss rn, but I live in an area with a ton of exchange students, immigrants, and visiting overseas businessmen so those situations are familiar to me) and I took the liberty of putting down "William Fan/Wendy Fan" for Fan Wenxin. đ
anyways scarlett is my current favorite author when it comes to fic for my special interests. recs include:
Covered in Bees | T, Wangxian | Beekeeping au with tons of bee fun facts, one of my favorites long before I read scarlett's other stuff
leave all your love and your longing behind | E, Wangxian | Modern au feat. An Asshole Dog (TM) and some of my favorite modern characters dynamics ever
i know who i want to take me home | E, Wangxian | Su She and Jin Zixun are assholes and bartender Wei Wuxian rescues drunk Lan Wangji
There's a Baby Loose in the Burial Mounds! | T, gen | a-Yuan is very loved
My Zhiji's On Broadway | E, Wangxian | the most amazing of drunk Lan Wangji shenanigans, feat. the Washington State Convention Center as Sir Not Appearing In This Fic
stray cat strut | E, Wangxian | Wei Wuxian is cursed (ish) as a cat, Lan Wangji finds a random cat on a night hunt, aka the fic that gets vocal trash's cover of stray cat strut stuck in my head every time I read the title

Fix-it fics you say. Tell me MORE
Agh. AHGHHH. I had a really fucking stupid self-indulgent AU idea where Sanji eats a devil fruit that gives him healing powers. Generally it's a great thing to have but there's two (2) problems with it.
He can only use his healing powers on others, not himself, and depending on the injury it takes a massive amount of stamina to heal (to the point of being life-endangering), and
It is a highly. HIGHLY coveted devil fruit. Sanji has to be very, very careful about when and where he uses it, bc people have and will come after him for it.
Cut to Sabaody, where Kuma decides to send Sanji to Marineford instead of Momoiro, so Sanji spends the next few days trying to hide out (his garbage ass wanted poster actually helping him with this for once lmao). It isn't long before he hears about Ace's planned execution, and Sanji thinks about infiltrating to break him out but realizes it would be too dangerous. Knowing his captain though he's 100% certain Luffy will show up to rescue Ace, so he decides to lay low until the war starts.
Fast forward to when Ace gets fatally wounded and Sanji jumps in to save his ass. He manages to heal the wound enough that a regular doctor could take over, but using that much power and stamina kicks his ass so hard that he's almost crying blood and Luffy has to carry him off the battlefield. Sanji, being an idiot and stupidly self-sacrificing, waits for Luffy to focus on Ace before he slips away and decides to haul ass back to Whitebeard in an attempt to heal him too. Luffy flips his SHIT when he realizes Sanji is gone and has a panic attack after nearly losing his brother and now not knowing where the fuck his stupid cook went.
Sanji and Whitebeard probably argue back and forth for a few minutes before Whitebeard finally relents and lets Sanji take care of the worst of his injuries. Whitebeard watches him and he's like. You're gushing blood out of your nose rn should that be happening. You don't look well. And promptly smacks him on the head when Sanji starts mumbling some self-sacrificing bullshit fjadnsadna
Whitebeard's like well. I WAS planning to die here fighting since I was in really bad shape. But I guess since this dumbass decided to heal me and I owe Strawhat for saving my son. He picks up Sanji (who has long since passed tf out) and is like okay I'm out! Peace!! And books it back to everyone else lol
Cue Luffy BAWLING when Whitebeard shows up with his stupid idiot boyfriend (who uhhh doesn't look too good) and they all manage to escape bc this is a fix-it and I do what I want. They stumble onto Law's submarine who now has to deal with three (3) critically injured patients (Luffy, Sanji, Ace) and the in-recovery arc that happens after is very stressful but also very, very soft.
Basically my brain said "Marineford but it's a fix-it with Sanlu" so here we are LMAO
#One Piece#Sanlu#Lusan#Monkey D Luffy#Sanji#Black Leg Sanji#Ace#Portagas D Ace#Whitebeard#Shima answers questions#Marineford#This one's 1000000% self-indulgent. Sorry. (Except I'm actually not <3)

Just read your recent Butcher!Konig and omg, idk if my heart can handle so much fluff! Can I do a tiny request? What happens if there's a problem customer that might get or got physical? Like throwing the food back or making terrible gestures? I wanna know if he'll be a big strong knight here to save her ? I'd be so into that!
I've never worked at a grocery store, but worked plenty of other customer service jobs and had my fill of terrible customers. A few have gotten violent.
oh my god, i'm lucky in that ive never had a customer get physical with me during an altercation. i can def write about this!
more of a drabble/headcannon than regular fic. feeling a bit lazy rn lol
if any customer even began to get remotely physical with you - even so much as waving their hands - butcher!könig would step between you and the customer immediately. in the customer's blind rage, they would begin to look up to challenge him, but when they registered his tall, muscular body and those piercing blue eyes with a leather face mask, they would back off instantly
a few of your coworkers have said they're surprised that butcher!könig isn't a bouncer at a club, since he'll stand between you and a customer with a wide stance and crossed arms. when you asked him why he wasn't a bouncer, he said "i like to play with knives." you didn't ask about it any further.
sure, butcher!könig would defend any female worker from a violent customer (and has even been called on by management to escort a few irate customers out of the store), but this man seemed to have a hawk's sense about you and your safety. it didn't even matter if you weren't in his line of sight - he could just sense when you were in danger.
your coworkers wouldn't even bother stepping in because they knew that the moment a customer started to get violent, butcher!könig would be there within 3 seconds. it was almost entertaining, and some of your coworkers began to place bets on how fast butcher!könig could come to your rescue. you didn't know about these bets, though.
each time, you would thank butcher!könig for protecting you. he would always say "it is nothing" and go back to work like nothing happened. but his coworkers noticed that he was always on edge after these situations, and everyone knew not to mess with him for the rest of the shift. but not you. it doesn't matter how angry butcher!könig would be over a customer because of what they did to you, because he would always be happy just for you

summary: no one is coping after niko's death, especially edwin. the group are trying to get back to work as a distraction, but it's not really working. then, it gets even worse for edwin when he begins hearing niko's voice inside his head, his own subconscious filling the gap he knows is there, and it hurts.

also on ao3!!
heard the voices and caught my breath, so close and yet so far from death
Chapter 1
Grief was a strange old thing.
Edwin had only known Niko for a few weeks and now, a month after her death, he still felt the pain of losing her weighing him down as though they had been friends for years. In reality, heâd been grieving her longer than they had known each other, and that was a difficult thing to come to terms with. Theoretically, ghosts could have eternity, so time and emotions didnât quite correlate in the same way they would have if he were alive. If he were alive, of course he would still be grieving, just as Crystal was, but a few weeks were barely anything compared to how long he had existed. Niko had merely been a blip in time for him, and yet here he was, sitting at his desk preparing for a new client as a way of distracting himself from how much it hurt, from how often he saw a girl lying on the ground, eyes glazed over, blood gushing from her chest, whenever he closed his eyes.
He supposed, when you spent 16 years living in a society full of such strict expectations, where affection was so abnormal that even your own parents never hugged you; and when you spent 73 years in the worst place in existence, entirely alone aside from the creature that continuously hunted you down and tore you apart; and when you spent 34 years with the best person youâd ever met, who you would never give up for anything since you loved him far too much for that and believed there would never be anyone else who would care even half as much about you as he didâŠmeeting someone else who also cared, who also listened, who also helped you and understood you in a way no one else ever hadâŠof course it would hurt for a long time to lose them â no matter how fleeting your time together was.
He'd grown closer to Crystal during the time since Port Townsend. She was as close to Niko as he was, and sheâd had a similarly profound effect on her and how she viewed herself and the world. He supposed it must be harder for her, in a way. Being a ghost, Edwin had become rather detached from the idea of death as an ending. Crystal may have been a psychic with full knowledge and access to the spectral realm, but he supposed it must hurt in a different way, being alive and watching someone else die to save you, and someone as kind and loving as Niko Sasaki at that.
At first, he and Crystal had yelled at each other a lot. Both of them had been on edge, their usually stiff-built emotional walls having deteriorated through the overwhelming sadness. Theyâd been at each otherâs throats more than ever, Charles caught in the crossfire, until he eventually convinced the two of them to sit down and talk.
They had talked, and it helped. They werenât as snappy with one another, since they knew and understood that they were going through the same thing. They bonded over their grief, Edwin even offering Crystal a hug she so clearly needed, which Edwin hadnât realised he needed too. They had realised theyâd become so emotionally vulnerable because both of them felt some sort of blame for what happened. Crystal blamed herself because the slashing spell had been directed at her before Niko jumped in front of it â she felt she should have been the one who died. Edwin felt responsible since it was him they were both trying to rescue. They talked about it, both reassuring each other it was not their fault, but that feeling, that pang of guilt at the mere thought of their friend, never really disappeared. It felt a little lighter though, a little easier.
Charles had also been suffering â of course he had. Heâd begun to view Niko as the younger sister he never had and losing her had felt quite like dying all over again. But Charles being Charles put the othersâ needs above his own, trying to help them through their grief while pushing his own deep down into himself until it exploded out one night and he burst into tears one night, gripping onto Edwin like he would slip away if he let go.
All three of them were broken. But they had each other. They had people who understood, and they had the Agency â because as much as Edwin hated to admit it, sometimes a distraction helped. Getting his head stuck into casework and research gave him something to focus on, which was why they continued to take on new cases despite everything.
âIâm Edwin Payne,â he introduced himself to their latest client â a middle-aged woman in a 19th century maidâs uniform. âThis is Charles Rowland, and Crystal Palace. Welcome to the Dead Boy Detective Agency. How can we help you?â
âMy nameâs Susan Grantham. In life, I were the maid at one of the bigger houses over in Uxbridge. I did my work willingly, for the Andersons that lived there. The wife Em was a good friend oâ mine, we grew up together and had always been close. She made me the godmother of her children, so when I died in that house three months after she and her husband were killed when their train derailed, I knew I had to stick around and help however I could. But when they grew up, and all of âem but the oldest married off and got land of their own, I never went anywhere. Always thought someone would come for me once my job was done but they still ainât come. So itâs just been me in that house. Itâs a hotel now. Emâs great-great grandson was the last to live there, he died in the war in â43. House was empty for years âtil someone bought it in the â90s and turned it into a hotel. Itâs constantly full of people now, but Iâm convinced I ainât the only thing haunting it anymore. Thereâs been loads of weird accidents in there, and thatâs why Iâve come to you.â
âWeird accidents?â Charles repeated. âSounds like a poltergeist, weâve dealt with them before.â
âWhat kind of weird accidents is the establishment succumbing to, Ms Grantham?â
âOh, all sorts. Knives moving on their own in the kitchens, doors knocking with no one there, and too many guests have come screaming to the front desk about floating furniture.â
âDefinitely sounds like a poltergeist, right Edwin?â
âOh my god, Edwin, this is just like that Scooby Doo episode we watched!â said Niko.
Edwin smiled for a split second, then paused. His face fell. WaitâŠwhat?
Edwin didnât reply to Charlesâs question, instead looking around desperate and confused, as if there was any possible way she could be there in the room. She wasnât, of course. How could she be?
âEdwin, you okay?â Charles asked quietly, clearly worried.
âI thought IâŠnever mind,â Edwin shook his head slightly, turning back to the client. âWeâd be more than happy to take your case, it sounds simple enough. Now, onto payment.â
Five minutes later, the payment deal was agreed upon and Susan left them the address to Anderson House before leaving the office.
âWell, this should be a straight-forward one,â Edwin said, looking up with a small smile.
The other two werenât smiling back. They both looked like they were trying to figure something out, as though they could read Edwinâs thoughts if they stared hard enough.
âWhatâs the matter with you two?â he asked, already making notes in his little book.
âWhatâs the matter with us? Whatâs the matter with you?â Crystal asked.
âYeah, mate, what was that about?â
âIâm afraid I have no idea what youâre talking about,â Edwin claimed.
âYou went all quiet and weird for a sec looking around like there was something there.â
âI can assure you, I am quite alright, Charles. The window merely created an interesting light pattern on the rug,â he lied.
Charles didnât seem convinced, but he and Crystal stopped prying.
Edwin cursed himself. Heâd thought about Niko non-stop since everything happened, but that was the first time he had imagined her there with them. Her voice sounded so real, like she was really there. Edwin hoped this wouldnât become a repeating thing, he didnât know if heâd be able to bear it if Nikoâs voice was supplied by his mind but she wasnât, couldnât be, physically there. He already missed her enough.
He cleared his throat, shaking the thought from his mind, and got back to the case notes. This one was going to be easy.
Chapter 2
The Case of the Haunted Hotel was easy. It was the running commentary in Edwinâs mind that was not. Hearing Nikoâs voice had apparently not been a one-time thing. Throughout the entire case, part of Edwinâs mental commentary had been through her. Sheâd provided more comparisons between the case and one of the Scooby Doo episodes theyâd watched together, given several niche comments that would have sounded incredibly strange in any other voice, and had helped with the case itself, reminding Edwin that Charles had put the one item they really needed in the bag of tricks a few hours beforehand. And it didnât even stop after that case; it continued for a few weeks, and as Edwin grew somewhat more accustomed to the apparent second consciousness in his mind, he started to enjoy it â it was a comfort that he could still feel her helping them, like it was all four of them on a case together instead of three of them and a painful space.
He only enjoyed it as it was happening, though. When the cases were closed and they returned to the office, he sat down and thought back on the idea, and then it was much more of another hurt than a comfort. When he had most of his focus directed onto a case, it was nice to have her back in a strange subconscious way, but when he was alone with his thoughts once more, the little voice in his head gave him little more than overwhelming grief. Because no matter how hard he tried to pretend that voice was real, he knew it could never be. Niko was dead, and despite the fact Edwin himself was too, he knew this one was forever. Theyâd left her lying on the floor of Esther Finchâs living room for Death to collect, not even waiting to see her rise as a ghost before they fled, as they had so many times since 1989. By now sheâd be settled into her afterlife, no doubt in the paradise she deserved, perhaps reunited with her father, while Edwin was still on Earth. Even if heâd wanted to go with Death in the hopes of joining her, he knew he wouldnât. He may have filled in the forms that meant Hell was no longer looking for him, but that was still his afterlife â that damn demon had made sure of that. His choices were eternal damnation in Hell or potential eternal grief on Earth, and the answer to that didnât even beg questioning. Heâd just have to learn to exist in her absence, even if he did have her sweet happy voice echoing in his mind now.
Several cases later â some of these ones much more complex than the poltergeist of Anderson House â the group needed a break. Even before they had any living members of the agency, Edwin and Charles used to have a rest day every once in a while, just to do something other than work for once, whether it be binge-playing Cluedo, Edwin teaching Charles fencing, or the two doing separate things, Edwin visiting the many museums around London and Charles exercising his ghostly privileges by going to all the concerts he wants. These rest days had become more common with Crystal around, since she actually got tired, and theyâd found a whole host of things they enjoy doing as a group.
Tonight, theyâd been to the theatre. Thereâd been a musical on in the West End that Crystal had desperately wanted to see, and while Charles and Edwin had never really had an interest in musicals, theyâd agreed to go along with her. Edwin found he rather enjoyed it actually, and had been mentally replying to everything Mind-Niko was saying as they watched.
It was growing dark when they left the theatre, so Charles and Edwin walked Crystal back to her new flat on their way home. Charles and Crystal were walking slightly ahead of Edwin, whose gaze flicked between the two of them. He didnât know if anything else had happened between them since their goodbye kiss in Port Townsend â Charles certainly hadnât mentioned anything, but Edwin worried he wouldnât tell him if anything had, likely out of fear of hurting his feelings since his own confession. Charles had a knack for leaving out information that might cause Edwin distress. Part of Edwin wanted to see their lack of anything official as a sign of hope that maybe, just maybe Charles could start to feel the same way he did. The larger part of Edwin, however, only wanted Charles to be happy, and if that came from him being with Crystal, then Edwin would be wholeheartedly supportive â heâd even tried to convince him to talk to her about it before she intended to leave Port Townsend. And it was clear there was still something there between them, whether they were acting on it or not. They walked down the street together, not quite touching or holding hands, but as close as seemed physically possible without either of those things happening. Charles was wearing his usual long black jacket and slacks, whereas Crystal had dressed up a bit, wearing a loose-fitting lavender trouser suit with one of her many floral designed mesh tops underneath, the pinkish-purple matching her eyeliner.
âShe looks so pretty,â the Niko in Edwinâs mind supplied, and he supposed she was right.
He may not have been interested in girls that way, but he could still admit that Crystal was beautiful. He could hardly blame Charles for developing feelings almost immediately, she was exactly the kind of girl who usually caught his best friendâs eye. Only Crystal wasnât one of those girls Charles would see in the street gossiping with their friends, having never seen a ghost in her life and likely never believing in them if you asked. Crystal was psychic, and brilliant and messy and beautiful. Edwin may have spent a lot of time in petty arguments with her, but beneath that he truly cared for her, and sheâd become a close friend. He admired her strength after everything sheâd been through. Once David was dealt with and Edwin could stop stressing so much about having a hellish being so close to the agency, so close to him, he really started to see how much he had affected her. Having your memories stolen from you only to get them back and discover you did horrible things in the pastâŠthat must have been horrible. Yet here she was, a fully-fledged part of the Dead Boy Detective Agency despite being neither dead nor a boy, and she was one of the best people Edwin knew. His thoughts about Crystal were soon interrupted by a different thought, this one taking on a different, more feminine voice than his own inner monologue.
âYou know, I never told you, but I have such a crush on her.â
That stopped Edwin in his tracks. What? What was wrong with him? Had his mind really invented a story about Niko liking Crystal in some sick attempt to quell the jealousy he couldnât help but feel towards her and Charles? Was he really that petty? He thought heâd been handling Charlesâs rejection well, heâd never felt more than a slight twinge in his chest whenever he saw the two of them together. He was perfectly fine with the fact Charles didnât feel the same way â he had never quite expected him to in the first place â wasnât he? Evidently, his subconscious disagreed. He felt horrible, as though heâd done something so wrong, not only disrespecting Charles and Crystal but Niko too.
âMate, whatâs wrong?â Charles asked, having noticed Edwin had stopped and gone back for him.
âNothing,â Edwin replied sharply.
âAre you sure-â
âI said Iâm fine, Charles.â
He hadnât intended to sound quite so cold and snappy, and immediately regretted it. Before Charles could say anything else, he marched ahead, passing Crystal without even looking at her. He knew Charles was just worried. He had been giving him a look for a few weeks whenever he thought his back was turned, and Edwin felt terrible for making him so concerned. But he couldnât tell him. What was he supposed to say? Oh, my apologies Charles, itâs just that my mind has somehow been conjuring up the voice of our dead friend for nearly a month, and Iâm not handling it too well. Charles told him he could tell him anything, but he had already burdened him with the knowledge of his feelings, he didnât want to give him something else to deal with. Edwin had survived Hell for seventy years, surely he could handle his own mind by now.
âEdwin, calm down,â he heard the imaginary voice of Niko say, and she was doing nothing to help the situation.
âStop,â Edwin replied aloud.
He tried to keep the tears at bay as he walked on, unable to quite make out exactly what Charles and Crystal were muttering about behind him.
